Hi! I'd like to know if there is a chance to build a passive equalizer for Etymotic ER4P. I'd like if they had more bass, from deep bass to about 400 Hz, to sound more natural. I'd like if it was small, too, to fit in my pocket with my mp3 player. Is there anything that can help me?

Good news (I think), Etymotic responded to my email on the plastic protruding from both ends. Their rep admited that after checking their inventory they found out that some had the problem of protrudin from both ends.

They have come up with a new foamie which is supposed to be a significant improvement over the current ones. You can write an email and request a sample, they sent one to me. Funny thing is I no longer have the Ety ER4S.

To what email address should I write?
Right now I'm using the Shure black foam tips, and they sound good. Also, the seal is unbreakable, but I'd like to try their new tips, regardless.

I thought they sounded pretty neutral as is, maybe your ideas of bass levels are unrealistic, I know it took me months to really get use to them and it makes things sound bass heavy now

That Linkwitz page wont change the bass much, what you want is a shelving filter, I don't know off the top of my head how to do that passively or even if you can at all

I built a little passive filter module to tweak mine.
It is used in conjunction with a 'bass boost' on an amp.
The filter module is effectively an 's' resistor with filters
to by pass it for gian and to ground for cut.

This is the module:
