It's crazy that Adorama has the ER2SE for only $49. I'm dropping by tomorrow to pick up another set.

Hi sorry for late update. The ER2SE tour package has been passed over to @crinacle.

Now all items in the package are as the following:

The previous 4 IEMs:
1. Etymotic ER2SE
2. Sony MH755
3. Samsung AKG IG955
4. BLON BL-05

Additional items:
5. CE1 DIY IEM made by @csglinux for ear canal acoustic impedance measurement (Left black pouch).
6. I've included an Apple USB-C dongle DAC for SPL calibration.

The idea is check the volume level of the Apple USB-C DAC when our coupler reading is around 94 dB SPL for the above IEMs. So we can compare our Coupler SPL calibration.
I use 500Hz sine wave at 0 dBFS peak, played back using foobar (or other player) output to the Apple USB-C DAC, adjust the Windows volume level for the Apple USB-C DAC and measure the SPL level till the reading closest to 94 dB SPL.

I generate the following 500 Hz tone 0 dBFS wav file using REW:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TXwavumdC6Fxi3pRoxnsZITwpOol0jtg/view?usp=sharing

The following is the volume level of the Apple USB-C DAC for each IEM at approximately 94 dB SPL reading on my coupler:

IEM"Apple USB C
Volume level
500Hz - 0 dBFS
HypeTheSonics CE1 (R)14 (94.1 dBSPL)
Etymotic ER2SE (L)25 (94.4 dBSPL)
BLON BL-05 (L)14 (94.1 dBSPL)
Samsung AKG IG955 (L)22 (94.1 dBSPL)
Sony MH755 (L)19 (94.0 dBSPL)

For the position / insertion depth of the IEMs, I inserted the ear tip till the edge of the ear tip is about the same level as the lip of the coupler's nozzle. Shown in the pictures below:

Only the Sony ear tip cannot be inserted as deep as other IEMs due to its size.

All measurement data that I've done with my coupler for the above IEMs is here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LwRTjuEusn4by-tc8_jN0v9slOyMkQ2R/view?usp=sharing

I can upload it to any dedicated shared folder if any.

I would like to write my findings about the CE1 measurement, as I think it is a very interesting measurement, in another post. Hopefully in a few days. I've been quite busy lately. Trying to find sometime for it next week.

My friend bought the ER2SE from adorama and I had a chance to try them out and review them. I feel like they are a little bass light even for there "studio edition" and with adorama selling ER3XR for $20 more at $70, I wanted to figure out which one sounds better. Unfortunately ER2XR isn't on sale, I tried to find it but I assume it was so popular that it sold out. But I definitely favor XR versions more. Full review below

Good review! Agree with you, bass too light for me too, can hear the soft bass but cannot feel the bass.

So idk where else to post I will do so here.

I've had my ER2SE for about a month or so now and I find minimal bass least of an issue. The eargain region starts too soon and then treble is recessed which overemphasizes 1-3k. Is that at all affected by insertion depth? I mean I can only insert then so far :D

Are the main discussion threads AFAIK. You're basically describing the etymotic sound there- 'tis mid-centric. You may actually want to try less insertion depth for a brighter sound. And/or EQ. And/or different eartips.
