I recieved my Ety's a few weeks ago and posted some comments about them. Now that I have learned how to quickly and efficiently insert the tri-flanges and have got used to the sound, I love them.

My question is how many of you amp your er-6i? I'm using the Creative Nomad Jukebox 3 and wonder if the difference between amped and non-amped is worth purchasing the Corda II group buy(I have managed to misplace my pocket amp so I can't test for myself)

I have your exact same setup, NJB3 and ER-6i. Whilst I also have a Total Airhead amp sitting at home, I never use it for my canalphones. These phones are afterall designed for portable players and my opinion is that I won't be able to tell much of a difference using amp or not anyway.

My suggestion for you is don't buy a amp until you have higher end headphones.

i haven't amped mine, but i love them straight out of my ipod. when they work. i'll soon be on my third set, because i keep getting channel imbalances. they are very delicate, so please be careful with them.

holy schmolly! i just posted a topic on the imbalances. is it a known problem? i never had problems with other canalphones or the er6 so i thought it might be the er6i that is faulty.

i don't know if its a known problem, but its awful with the second set. my first set was ok, until the left channel quit working. with the second set, the left side sounded muffled from day one (and i've made sure that it isn't the filters), and now the left side intermittently goes out completely. strange that we both have problems with the left side.

Ouch...
I remember your first post about losing a channel. 3rd set and still????
Mine are still working, but I baby the crap out of them. The live in the
softcase when not in use, and that's placed in a larger bag where they won't have pressure put on them.

Since you said they were "delicate", would you mind me asking, how you've been treating your 6is? I'm not suggesting that you're abusing them, I mean hey, there for portable use and that means exposure to a lot of different situations... I'm more curious about hmmm... A Day in the Life... of your
canal phones

Just trying to figure out if there is any possible correlation for people who are having dropouts...

i completely baby mine. they stay in the soft pouch when not in use, just like yours, and the cable has never been snagged. with the second set (the revision 2) they actually had a channel imbalance straight out of the box. then they worked for a while, and i thought it was just a fluke. about 2 weeks after i recieved the second set the channel imbalance became very bad again, and now i'm getting the intermittency. i think there is some kind of manufacturing problem with them, myself.

ack... that sucks...
but you're probably right about a manufacturing issue.
Maybe things got muddled when the retooled to make the rev. 2s...

I hope Ety is at least taking care of you for your problems... Their customer service has been good from my experience, I hope it is for you as well..

good luck

Well I found my amp and plugged in. The first thing I noticed was a hiss that I never noticed with my Grado's and my friends phones. The hiss was pretty noticeable even with the music on. Obviously a consruction problem, but being as that was my first DIY amp I was not surprised. The second thing that I noticed was how much better the ER-6i's sounded. The bass was more prominent, which for many is a big concern with these 'phones. That is just my two cents though.

I'm now tempted to buy the Corda II or try my hand at another CMoy, this time though use better parts and add a crossfilter.
