I, in the minority are not overly impressed with these Headphones (even with an amp) and I am selling my 1 1/2 month old pair for $145.00 includes shipping in the U.S. They have only been used twice and are in mint condition with case and and the extras that came with it. It will also come with the sales receipt for warranty purposes. If interested, e mail me at dgness@excite.com.
I will probably get flamed for this message and I will except it providing Head Fi lets the message stay posted.
First come first serve basis. Money orders, cash or PayPal.

Thanks

If you have only used them twice, you probably do not yet know how to use them. I guarantee, if you give them more time and try different ways of putting them in, you will be amazed by them.

Good price. They should go fast. I'd buy them if I didn't already have a pair. Did you try them with the foam tips? I had much better results with them.

Don't get me wrong. The fidelity is great, but good bass is missing (to my ears) and even with an amp, the volume level does not satisfy my ears (I have a MD, MP3 and CD Walkman). And as we all know when it comes to portables, fine tuning your sound is very limited.
I have used in-ear phones for quite a while now and don't think I have a problem knowing how to put in ears.

Don't feel bad. I had the er4p for 2 weeks and sent them back and I also have 2 amps. They sounded very good to me untill I started getting ear pain. I also had the adapter but I don't think they sound as good as a pair of senn. 580s and for what they cost my aiwa earbuds for only 25.00 or my mx500 with slicsound for 30.00 are just fine. I trhink the etys er4p-er4s are over priced and cant compair with regular headphones of high quality. And I will take all the flams from ety lovers. I mean no afense to those who like them but I had trouble with them and as for the er-6 They dont come near my mx500 with slicsound. Why should we be worried to say how we feel as long as we say its just our opinion.

It's a different sound. I had the E6's and didn't like them. Once a good seal (foam) the bass is there. Not the same as dynamic cans, but very, good. I use them when the house is active and I "need" to hide. I also use them mowing the lawn and using powertools. Hearing protection with tunes.

Technically this thread should be in the For Sale forum, but because its changed into a discussion - I'll leave it here for now... but if it turns into purely a FS thread, then I (or a fellow mod) will move it across...

You're not alone, I didn't like them either. Also, they were uncomfortable for me, I must have small canals.
The portable headphones I plan to get are Beyerdynamic DT-250-80, they are the only closed headphones that I like.

Dunno how relevant this is overall, but with regards to comfort:

I've been wearing earplugs of all sorts to keep my sanity here at college for over 3+ years. Even for me, when I got the Etymotics, they were painful. Heck, for the first 3 months that I used them, they were painful, even with proper insertion.

Only in the last two weeks (and I wore the suckers a lot -- 2 or more hours a day) have they gotten to be entirely comfy, to the point of not feeling them at all. Searching the various tips on this website as to insertion also helped, even for an experienced earplug user like me.

Between "breaking in" that first pair of flanged plugs, and looping the cord around one's outer ear to reduce microphonic noise, the 4S/4Ps are essentially ideal, even if they do lack bass below 40 Hz (subjectively). I think they are down 10 or more dB at 20, although given enough juice, they will do it. I recently sold one of my 2 pairs of HD-600s instead of selling the 4Ps.

It took me about a week or 5 to 6 hours before my ETY 4S became comfortable. I really like them now. Like many things it just takes time.
