Trying to figure out if I should use low, mid, or high gain for these earphones? I'm guessing low gain for the -4P, and mid to high gain for the -4S?

For a Portaphile V2, but I'm thinking this could apply to many different amps...

I'm most curious to know if the -4S counts as a high impedance earphone that a mid to high gain amp will add benefit to. Or is it not in that league?

Just a FYI, the Portaphile is usually shipped, unless otherwise requested, in the low gain setting of 2.5. The high gain setting is 7 and can be set by accessing the internal switches.

Thanks for the tips. I'll try 3 when I get it. So I'm assuming that the switch works in .5 increments? If you can go from 2.5 to 3?

Like you, I'm using the Ety IEMs. When I ordered the Portaphile maxxed, just told Cesar what I waas using and the unit was shipped with the settings in place 'cause I didn't want to mess with them.

Since it takes SOOOOO long for burn-in, would suggest you burn the unit in first, then fiddle around with the settings. You might just like the "default" the best!!
