I didn't want to derail the er-4p thread so I feel like I should create a new thread for these tiny little beasts.
ok so I've been posting about these a little bit but I really can't stress enough how good these sound.

The only problem is that they do have quite significant bass dropoff past 50hz(to my ears). These are not basshead phones, but their bass response is very flat and rolls off in a nice way.

The real reason why I feel obligated to create a new thread on these is because of the sheer amount of objective data pointing to how good they are.

Here is one of their FR graphs

The testers of this site did a re-review of the hd800 recently and...this is where things get interesting.
Their opinion of the HD800 was similar to the ek5
http://en.goldenears.net/22602
http://en.goldenears.net/11246

likewise, innerfidelity has a graph and of course...they measure just as well

I'm not saying you're getting $1500 sound here but to even remotely draw up a comparison at those price differences and come up with similarities between the two means they must at least be quite good.
for $20 on Amazon? I can't really see a reason not to get them(if you're used to the triple flange)

...bumping
unfortunately price is now raised back to $30 and are temporarily out of stock on amazon
They might go on sale soon again though.

even for 30$ these still blow away similarly priced "budget kings" like the thermaltake isurus, she3580, and soundmagic e10 at least in terms of neutrality and musicality.

I am in the middle of recommending to my friend a set of in-ear phones as she was complaining about her hearing.
Stumbled upon this appreciation thread.
I too appreciate them :)
