HI: This is after only a 3 hour burn in with the ER4P.
The SR-225 has more bass slam and a wider sound stage
The 4P has lots more detail and clarity. They have real good bass but the bass don't get in the way of the mids and highs. The sound is way more in your head over headphones and there just isn't anything there on your head. The 4P just disappear and you just hear music. Both SR-225 and 4P are very upfront in your face sound. After using the shure e2 I find the 4P to be way more comfortable than the E2. The 4P are thin but a little longer and just slide in my ear-canal. The 4P makes me think of the GILMORE amp. Very natural and true to the music CD. In portable mood the 4P are the closest I have come to audio file sound. Very natural true to the CD or minidisc recording with a ballance sound in all departments. No over emphases just true sound and very accurate. I find the 4P to be very relaxing to listen to and mellow in a strange way. I just get beautiful music though out my head and relax and enjoy. Now when I put my SR-225 on It party time with great bass slam and big full out of the head sound that sounds like lets get down on some music. These are two different sounds. Both are excellent but its nice to just relax and have the music in your head. Its like KAREN CARPENTER is in my head singing in my ear smoothly but dynamic and oh so nicely. I will need both the 4P and SR-225 according to my mood that I feel like getting down or just relaxing. Both unites are great high end stuff.

HI: How are you? I remember you saying that you could only get the small tips to fit your ears. The ER4P are much thinner than the E2 but a little longer and might fit your small ears better not to mention way better sound. If you get them at headroom you have a 30 day return with them. That is where I got my 4P.

HA HA! Another convert. I knew you would dig 'em Lou. After going through a ton of headphones myself, I settled on two that I really like, like you. I have Ety's, and then I have my Crazy-Bass type headphones too (BeyerDynamic DT770). I sold off the most the rest of my gear because these two provide everything I need. I've owned a lot of Grados in the past, I'd be just as happy with the SR225's you have, for when I want Bass n Punch. Good choices Lou.

...That is, I need nothing more....until .. until I can afford a $3000 Meridian CD player, $3500 Sony R-10s, $800 Emmeline HR-2 Amp, and VD Night Interconnects.

Congrats Lou.

Glad you like your Etys so much.
The scary thing is that it often takes weeks to really "learn" how to use the Etys correctly and perfect the seal.
Your enjoyment of the Etys will likely increase even more over the upcoming weeks.

Keep us posted.
