I happen to be in the middle of reviewing a slew of headphones and own a pair of 4P's that I love (haven't found anything this detailed for a diehard multiplayer gamer where detail is success). Anyway, I tried the ER-6's and the first thing I noticed (aside from not liking them anywhere near as much as my 4P's, is that the microphonic effect was drastically reduced, at least for me.
I started looking for reasons and I suspect it's due to the extremely light cabling they use. It's so light and "sticky" that it sits on my shirt and doesn't move around whereas the 4x slick, heavier black cable moves around with every slight movement I make. Perhaps simply adding small "grips" along the cable will help seat it so that movement is reduced to a minimum.
Thoughts?
