Ety 4P's or an amp for my SR80's?

Wondering what the fellow head-fiers recommendations would be for my chairside system. I'm trying to decide if I should grab a pair of Ety ER4P's to use with my pcdp (one of the newer sonys, a d-ej955). I can either do that, or I can get a Headsave Transit or Headsave Ultra and use the pair of Grado SR80's that are on their way to me.

The Ety's will be slightly more expensive than the Headsave Ultra (I can get Ety's for about $220 brand new). I would have to deal with the microphonic issue and the seal, which I don't think will be a problem if I use the foamies. And since its a bedside/chairside system, the microphonics shouldn't be too much of a problem either. I've heard so much about the ER4's, and that the 4P's are pretty much the best you can get unamped.

But if I go for the META42 (either the standard or the maxed out version), I can power the SR80's (which I understand sound simply amazing when amped) and pretty much any other pair of cans I would buy down the road. No cord issue or fit issue to deal with on the current cans I have... Just that the Ultra (which is the one I'm leaning towards) is a little bigger, so it wouldn't be quite as portable (more like "transportable") but darn, it suuure is purdy!

So what would your advice be, gents?

thanks in advance,

No question about it. The etys are amazing especially when you listen for the first time. I have both of these cans and the SR-80s are a great value, but the etys are just so much better. Plus, they are neutral (if that matters to you).

Both these statements are certainly open for debate.

I think the Ultra (which is still surprising small) is a great quality amp for which ever phone you use them with (as you've mentioned).

I guess it's all short-term versus long term. The Etys will likely blow the 80's away, but if you're more likely to upgrade your phones in the future than your amp, the Grado/Headsave combo may be the way to go.

would anyone want to take the SR80's off my hands? They are on their way to me, brand new and unused. I could use the funds towards the Ety's...
