A small comment about these two phones. I have been using Ety 4Ps for a few years now. I recently obtained the P to S adapter, and I have written here several times that I prefer the tonal balance of the 4Ps even though the 4S is so much more detailed.

I recently changed the filters for the first time. The difference? The 4Ss now have the tonal balance I like as well as even more detail. With clean filters they bass came into focus, and the lower mids cleared up considerably. Out of my Melos the 4Ps are now sloppy. So, I am changing my mind, and now prefer the 4Ss in all regards out of my amp, so long as they are clean.

Can you visually see any difference between the old filters and the new? When was the last time you changed the filters? I read some reports of people changing the filters and it made no difference and other reports like yours where it greatly improved.

My etys are only 6 months old and they sound much better with the converter, so I don't think I have to worry but I just want to know what to look for.

These have not been changed in a long time (18 months or so), but no, there was no visable difference.
