I am planing on getting a pair of custom IEMs for sub-$1000, and I've been looking into Westone and UE, wondering if anyone has experience with them or any other great customs. So, looking for your suggestions. THX

I listen to almost everything, piano, rock, vocal, metal, pop, jazz...... Therefore, I guess something really balance would be great.

Do a search on those models under $1,000

While I am a big JH Audio fan, their high end stuff (JH13, JH16) goes over $1,000.  Westone ES5 might be the best value for a truly premium sounding custom at $850.  It has amazing clarity and detail with a somewhat forward midrange.

I did some research, that es5 would give me the warmest sound out all of them but relatively bass-light. But still wondering is the mid would be too aggressive. Also, while you are talking about JH I think I can break the budget limit a little, can you give me some suggestions on JH? I'm not a basshead and mostly looking for bright high and thick and warm mid while not too aggressive. THANK YOU

I have the UERM and though it does have the bright highs you want, and neutral bass, its sound signature is not thick at all.

UE Reference(flat, analytical) > ES5(more fun, great midrange and overall detail and clarity)> JH (richer thicker fuller funner sound)

General guideline....JH Audio also has flat analytical offerings.
