Yea, my Er6i's have been fine till now (I got them in March). Now, occasionally music only comes out of the left side. I think I've found the source of the problem. I was examining the headphone and right at the headphone jack (3.5mm) plug, where the cords comes out for the two actual earbuds, I found if I push it in hard, the music comes back through.

I needed to know if this is the only fix so far to pushing it in really hard, because that means I might have to toss my baby's away =[

They're still under warranty. Contact Etymotic. They'll take care of you. No need to throw them away.

Unfortunately it's an extremely common problem. Same thing happened to me. They should replace it since it's under warranty. I bet you have one of those straight plugs instead of the right angled ones. I wonder if thats supposed to relieve the strain.

Contact Etymotic...
They should replace it without a problem since it's within warranty.
I've dealt with them when I had problems with an early version of the 6i, and they were very responsive. They have great customer service.

good luck

I've got a similar problem, now the second time. I've been using the Etymotic ER-6 with custom earmolds for about 15 months. After about 9 months the left driver failed (nearly completely muted). Replacement was no problem beside a few weeks without phones and the shipping costs I had to pay.

But now the new pair seems to encounter a similar problem. The left driver mutes occasionally.

Sometimes I use them for jogging, but not if it's raining and I really handle them quite carefully.

Is that a common problem?? For sure, these phones are no "hi-end" but nevertheless no low budget plugs and I'm a little bit dissapointed.

ER6/i's cord is way too thin, maybe you should consider Shure's on your next purchase

Well, today the Etys returned after I had sent them in. Comment: "tested ok. no problem found. the left speaker not turn off, work perfectly".

Since I'm not deaf and I think that I am able to recognize if a driver fails (after a while first the hights begin to fade and 10 minutes later the driver fails nearly completely) my only conclusion can be, that the quality of the Etys is crap! Only a slight comfort, that they sound comparabely well for the money (imho), as long as they work.
