Hi
I've been looking at headfi for weeks and thought I'd register to clear my questions

I mostly listen to prog rocks (dream theater, rush, kansas, etc.) and other rock bands and hav a 4g nano. I've had the er6i over a year and I really love the details it gives, but I decided I wanted more bass.
So I've been looking for closed budget earphones (~$100) and saw that mdr v6's were really nice. Would the V6 give better sound than er6i? Or would it be par with er6i and wont make much difference? Are there any alternatives i should be looking into?

Thanks for the time

From what I've read I doubt that the V6' will offer a better sound quality than the ER6i's, although you would experience more bass thump, but it'll be on the muddy side of things. Have you considered the Sennheiser HD201's? They seem to be the best cheap closed cans out there.

Welcome to Head-Fi. If you're at all sensitive to grating highs, I'd avoid the V6. Had it twice and although it's quite nice for the price, I had to get rid of it for that reason. Decide how important the quantity of bass is to you, and if it's not go with the 6i.

You want a closed, detailed headphone with lots of bass. I'm unaware of anything that does that less expensive than the Beyer DT770 (preferrably the 80Ohm version, not the 250, if you're driving from an iPod).

I don't need a lot of bass, I just think bass from er6i is inadequate, are there any headphones in my price range with crisp sound with reasonable bass?
