First, just wanted to say that this is my second IEM. My first was the shure e3c. I really enjoyed them, but from the er6i reviews it sounded like I would like the etys more.

Well I have been listening to them for the past couple of hours. First I tried them with the tri flanges and they sounded horrible. It was apparent that I had not gotten a perfect seal. The sound was very thin, and had hardly a pinch of bass. Then, I tried the foam tips and wow, what a difference. I easily achieved a perfect seal, and the sound completely transformed. The sound is rich and detailed and the phones are a little more comfortable(but not by much). I think that most people who have say that the ety's sound is extremely thin are simply not getting the correct seal. (I have used them straight out of an ipod and with a go vibe 6.)

I will continue to leave my impressions and update this thread with pics. One question for now. I leave town saturday, where can I order foamies(comply or shure black) and have them at my door by thursday or friday? Thanks

Try earphonesolutions (a Head-Fi sponsor).

I think the short Comply foams transformed the ER6i's for me (from good to very good, overall). For me, anyway, they improved the comfort, fit, seal and thus sound. I haven't tried the Shures on them yet (even though I've already received them).

Glad you are liking them so far ...

Thanks guys, I'm gonna get them from earphonesolutions since they show when they *should* arrive. God these things sound amazing from the go vibe. I'm thinking of ordering the er4p with my paycheck on friday...the same paycheck I need for my trip out of town. rofl

QUICK!! I need to know if the new shure black foamies will fit the er6is? Last thing I want to do is get some that will not fit. I assume they will, but just want to be sure. Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure, but I've heard some people say they do, and I think they're supposed to last longer too.

I started out not liking the tri-flanges either.

Once i got used to the concept of inserting these things far deeper than feels normal, they started to sound pretty good.

fwiw, i don't know if it's the isolation, the frequency response, or the alleged detail, but listening to Mogwai's "helps both ways", the er-6i is the only way i clearly hear everything the football announcers in the background are saying.

Thanks again, I ordered the shure foamies due to them being rewashable. I can't pay $5 a week for new foamies. lol
