Ok, how do the er6's compare with V6's, Beyer 250-80s, ex-70's, and the er4's (bass extension too)? I was planning to get some Beyer's with some extra Christmas money, but the er6's..... I like lightly warm sound.

Dear a1leyez0nm3,

I really do think you'll get max enjoyment out of the Beyer DT-250/80's, unless of course, you want the total portability of the ER6's.

Although the Beyers are in no way going to be as portable as the Ety's, there's no way the Ety's are going to be as durable as the Beyers, all factors to consider.

I don't agree. I haven't actually seen the 6s, but my 4s are very durable. I'm really not that sure why people seem to think they are fragile - they are built very well. Another big plus is that the phones can be folded up and put into such a compact case that they are much less likely to get involved in a bad incident anyway....d_wilson has sent his etys through the wash in his pants pockets several times with no adverse effects except having to replace the filters. Of course, you wouldn't want to do that on purpose, but Etys really are very durable.

That being said, if you're looking for a particularly warm sound the Beyers may do you better than the Etys. Etys don't have a warm sound, per se...they're very very neutral.

Any way you slice it, though, you'll end up with a great pair of headphones (well...minus the ex-70s), so I wouldn't sweat the decision too terribly much. The V6s aren't quite in the same league as the beyers and the etys, but they're also considerably cheaper and are very good headphones (I have ER-4Ss but still bought two pairs of V6s for more casual listening or when I'm moving around).

Good luck.

I've seen a few threads where people have asked about or commented about the way ER-6's and EX70's compare. They don't compare. The ER-6's are in all measurable ways the superior headphone, minus the cost. It is well worth the added expense to get a near reference quality headphone at this price.
