I am using a 3G nano unamped.

I had used "Rock" for the longest time but lately I have been using the "R & B" setting. It seems to fill in the botton end nicely and there is still a ton of treble detail and zero siblance. Going back to the "Rock" setting almost sounds too lean.

Does anybody use "No EQ" with Etys? I can't imagine......ouch!

X2

And unless you use mp3gain or the like to reduce the loudness of the aac/mp3 file to about 89 dB I find that iPod eq distorts the sound

Use your ears and figure out what YOU like best (if any).

Can you please elaborate about "distorts the sound"? Too bassy? Literal distortion? If this is the case I would think you would find TFP's or SE530 completely un-listenable and overly bloated, even with no EQ.

To me, no EQ, completey flat response with Ety sounds like using a couple 2 inch computer speakers in a room the size of a 2-car garage. But I realize this is an individual preference thing.
