er4-p amped=harsh?

Hello,
First of all- I love these headphones. I tried them last night through my NAD integrated and they sounded a bit harsh. Is this to expected without the 4s cable converter?

Are you using the tri-flanges, or the black foamies. I use the foamies, and don't find any harshness at all.

define harsh? Too much treble, or do they sound painful/bad?
