I've narrowed it down to these to options, simply cause their easyest to get online.

I have some questions:

1. The ue3 has an over the ear design which I think would cancel microphonics. Does it? And does the er-6i have that design to?

2.Which of the headphones is more comfortable, and is easier to find replacment tips to? (The ue3 comes with 5 different kinds while the er-6i comes with 2 kinds, and no normal kind. only flange)

3. The flanged tips, are they comfortable? If not, is there a way to get normal sylicone tips for the headphones?

4. Which headphones sounds better for alternative/prog/progmetal, and which has a better seal?

5. For a point of reference, which of the headphones is bassier then the ep630? (if at all, they're my previous phones and I found them a bit to bassy, but I don't wand cold sounding phones..) And which of them is bassier compared to the other?

Thank you! Nadav (sorry for asking so much.. :p )

I typed a long response to your question, but somehow the servers ate it up. Anyway, the gist of it is that the sf3 will be better for your needs.

Really?thx for the response man~!

The UE phones will be bassier, probably comfier too but thats all down to personal preference really.
The 6i do not have the over ear design.
Flanges on em do take some getting used to, especially because they go so deep in your ear & to start with the rubber is a little stiff.

UE if you prefer a more full bassier sound.

Ety's have a clear midrange and treble but with less bass.

I like the UE fit with stock tips, some do not.

One thing that gets me worried over the ue3 is-no replacable filters, only cleaning kit

And about the ety's, flange tips+other tips and filters cost a LOT..

Tough choice, I found the ep630's I have a bit to much bassy, if the ue3's are similiar I'm not sure I'd go with the ue's.

And the over the ear design, does it really partialy cancel microphonics?

Yes, and they are less bassy than the ep630.

um... tough call,

It seems like i'll go for the ety's,

they have changable filters, a less bassie sound, and I'd want somthing more different then my ep's. Hope I'm making the right decision:0

Will there even be a difference in sound quality between the ep's and etys?

Etys have so much more detail than ep630s, but after ep630s, you will think the etys have no bass. pretty much exact opposite headphones if you ask me

1. not designed to, but u can wear it the same way to eliminate microphonics, and a lot of people do

2. depends entirely on the tips u choose. u aren't limited to only the ones issued - u can use tips for other models and even other manufacturers.

3. i don't like them. other people prefer them. each to his own.

4. ue's sound warmer. er-6i's are more neutral and more detailed

5. both are less bassy then ep630

...and after Ety, you will find EP-630 has no detail.

Well, I'm kinda hooked over the ety's, just afraid that they'll sound TOTALLY IN EVERY WAY bassless..

I mean, people make it seem like they sound like 3$ chinese phones, with no bass feeling to them at all. I do wan't headphones without to much bass, but not without bass at all. Do they sound THAT neutral?

It's a weird way to check, but how much should I turn down bass frequencies to see how they sound on my ep630 through zmp? :p
sorry for asking so much q's

No one has mentioned that you can use soft foam Comply tips or the longer lasting new Shure foamies on the Etys. Yes, you pay a little extra. But,in my opinion, that makes them far more comfortable than with flanges -- and helps with consistent fit, isolation and sound quality. Your mileage may vary ...

I have the Creatives and the Etys and they are very, very different ... and I really like them both, in their class / for what they are.

Listening to "modern" music (music that's mastered really hot or loud, with massive bass compared to a lot of the oldies), the Etys (I use the short Comply foams) provide an adequately audible bass ... it's not earth-shaking and it's certainly not muddy, but it's there.

If Etys fit right, they certainly do not sound like $3 earphones.
