Which would you get for your Iriver H340 ?

I know the ER-6i were created for the IPod with a lower impedance because the IPod had trouble driving the ER-6. But the ER-6 have a higher impedance of 48ohms which I am assuming would create less hiss.

Which is best for the IRiver ?

I'd assume er-6i. It's pretty unanimous that the 6i is better than the 6 on anything. I had the 6, and it was fairly lackluster.

The only problem I have with the ER-6i is that they are only 16ohm. My current EX71s are 16ohm and produce a reasonable amount of hiss which I find annoying.

I had been advised that a headphone with a higher impedance would possibly remove this hiss.

This is why I was leaning towards the ER-6.

The hiss is probaly coming from the iriver itself. Canalphones tend to to be very revealing, and pick up hiss from the player. It's pretty normal, unless you have a dead quiet player. There really shouldn't be a problem, no one's complained about the er-6i so far. I think it'd be fine. If you're really worried about the impedance just get a 75 ohm adapter, which may possibly alter the sound.
