I think this is little bit fairer compared to when I compared the HD600 to the etys, there in a different legue due to sound quality, the ER-4S won very easily. I would like to hear your opinions on which one is better. I know they ER-4S is more portable and can isolate noise but the CD3000 has very high sound quality and they are very comfortable.

Well they're very different cans. personally, I found that I could not last very long with the Etys jammed up my ear canal, YMMV.

The Etys are closer in sound to the HD600 than they are to the CD3000 based on my memnories of both cans (i owned them all at various times). Etys are more laid-back and even with a very neutral-sounding timbre across the spectrum, but I found them a bit rolled in the highs. The CD3000s "flaw" is their tendency to slightly over-emphasize the highs, although luckily, they possess a grain free almost "crystaline" and slightly sweet top end. The CD3000 is a much more "alive" and exciting headphone. Etys are more mellow and not as involving.

For me, the CD3000s win both in terms of sound and especially comfort.

What other gear are you using with your Etys? Could make a difference.

I was actually hoping you would reply to this post because I have read all your reviews and find them very informal and interesting. I just cant make up my mind on which headphones to buy. I would be using them through an iPod and a META42 amp. Markl from your experience how does the CD3000 perform where there is alot of outside noise, like in a car or on an airplane. My last question is whats the best price you can get a new pair of CD300s for.

Although the CD3000s are closed cans, they leak every bit as much sound as any "open" can. People next to you will definitely hear what music you are listening to. They will give you *some* isolation relative to the HD600s but not much.

I would say, support Head-Fi and buy from one of our sponsors, audiocubes. They have excellent prices, but maybe you could save an extra $20-$30 if you buy elsewhere (some unknown place on the web).
