Entech number Cruncher.

Hello. I have been looking into DACs lately and have found many options. Right now one of the Entech Number Crunchers seem like the best bet. So i am wondering...WHERE CAN I BUY ONE?? I have searched ebay for every name I could think of. Google says amazon has it but it is sold out. Is there anywhere else to look except the FS forum, or is there something to search in ebay thats not so obvious to get results.

this is a tough one. they were all over the internet at one point of time, and all of a sudden, stocks ran out and they are hard to find. You can try finding a used one on the FS forum, but I was looking for one a while back and I couldnt find one when I had the money.

The Number Cruncher was mass produced in large quantities by Monster Cable, which inevitably led to a lot of overstock that every so often would end up on eBay. I haven't looked lately, but I've seen them on there within the past 6 months, for dirt cheap.

Usually when they pop up, a bunch pop up at a time.

Prices probably will never be THAT good again (~$40) after the Stereophile measurements were published, compared that to the $200 HeadRoom BitHead measurements (which is supposed to have a DAC section much better than most high-end sound cards).
