i know when i had my pc, i turned up all volumes in windows and winamp to max. Then i used the emu's volume control.

Now with my macbook, I turn VLC to the max, also turning the macosx volume to the max. This results in a rather, raspy and distorted sound when playing audio at louder levels.

So what im asking is, with these macbooks do I have to turn its system audio down? If so, it makes volume control a little bit annoying.

Anyone else have the same problems?

Hi geestring,

The VLC volume different from all other apps because VLC is not written in 100% native Cocoa/CoreAudio. The default volume level is essentially full volume. Turn up the volume slider in VLC will activate some sort of software gain which makes the output not bit perfect. You can reset the volume level by clicking the Reset All button in the VLC preference window.
