So I've got the EMU 0404 and I like it a great deal, but I do have another concern on my mind.

How on earth do I rig my machine to play the 5.1 surround from a DVD? Is there a way to add this on (through another card, perhaps) to my system? I don't really care about 5.1 sound in games, I mostly wear my headphones when I'm playing and haven't had any of the sound problems some people say they've got with the 0404.

But, when I get home from a few days in studio, I'd like to be able to watch DVDs on my Apple Cinema display (I thought I'd be doing more of my own work on this thing... *sigh*) and have 5.1 surround. From the DVD drive to my Pioneer stereo, what do I need inbetween?

And will the inbetween stuff be compatible with my EMU 0404?

You should be able to set your player software to use SP/DIF passthrough so the AC3/DTS stream is passed to your receiver for decoding. This is assuming you're using SP/DIF.

This is from PowerDVD.
