I got both cards with drivers installed in my winxp sp2 w/ all updates and I get no sound from either cards. This is how my cards are configured:

WHat am I doing wrong? This is a fresh install of both cards and OS after a format.

1. Are you sure you have the speakers hooked up to the right output? Also make sure you have the right speaker selection out of your Audigy.

2. Do your windows sounds work? or is it just winamp that isn't playing.

3. Try foobar, it has been my experience that winamp's output setting are a little screwy. Foobar shows you if something isn't working properly.

P.S. Check "use only default devices"

I just got home from work, turned on my PC and now I'm getting sound from my audigy but it sounds really really muddy. Still no sound from the EMU though.

I'm running my emu to an amp and then to my headphones. I plugged the RCA cables from my amp to the 1/4 output on the breakout cables on the emu.

I'm going to try foobar now. Thanks

you need to choose your Default sound card to the EMU. only one sound card can work at once. if you awnt to hear the other card yuo haev to switch to it and then restart.

Did you follow the instructions that came with your card in regards to installing the E-MU with an Audigy? I believe the drivers of the two cards conflict greatly unless appropriately installed (in a certain order I believe, I forget which you need to install first).

Don't listen to the two who posted above me, they haven't been reading this thread.

Anyway. You have it set up correctly. Now you need to setup the EMU. I'm guess you will be using Foobar with this card. In the foobar preferences you need to choose your output as the EMU card, but you will need the ASIO plug in for Foobar and also setup Patchmix for ASIO output. There are many guides around here to do this, just do a search.

You need to EQ the audigy for it to sound better, using CtPanel.exe use the "disco" setting, under Advanced EQ, and then just give it more or less bass/treble with the Volume controls - > "advanced" I add a lot of trebble and adjust the bass for my speakers as needed, but the disco setting really gives the music life, it takes away all that muddy sound.

This is so incorrect. You can run as many cards as you like, you only need to specifiy which card to use in the program using the card.

Actually I have been reading, and brought it up because he responded saying the sound in his Audigy was really really muddy. That sounded peculiar, because regardless of his foobar settings, this seems unusual. I thought that perhaps it could possibly be a driver issue. I appologize for attempting to help; I'm not omniscient like you are.

Exaclty.

If you had been reading you would have realized the WHOLE POINT of this thread was that he was having that problem. He solved it. Now he needs help configuring the software. There isn't any more conflicting.

I don't mean to be an ***** but sometimes i wonder about these replies.

alright guys, this is whats happening now. My audigy sounds nice with foobar2000 but winamp sounds horrid, thats ok though, I'm going to stick with foobar now.

I still can't get any sound from my emu card though. This is what I've do so far regaurding ASIO:

I did exactly what this guy said and the sound improved a lot, but for the audigy. I set all my output in DirectSound and waveout to my emu. Saved all and nothing

I have two 1/4 ~> RCA adaptors in the two 1/4 output breakout cable, then the RCA cables from that to my amp. This is correct right?

Make sure in foobar under Output for ASIO to go into it and choose the E-MU as the output device. You want to use ASIO for E-MU not directsound.

In DSP settings only have advanced limiter selected, and make sure output is set to 32 bits or 24 padded to 32.

More things to try with your 0404 (under Foobar)...

Ensure resampler is loaded under DSP Manager (either PPHS or SSRC). I forgot to do this early on and was baffled as to why there was no sound (with my Chaintech AV710--probably applicable with your 0404 as well). Once checked, try changing target sampling rates to different settings between 48000 Hz to 96000 Hz. Try both kernel streaming and ASIO. Troubleshoot using DirectSound and DirectSound v.2 if not working under ASIO or kernel streaming.

Also might want to try your 0404 solo after removing and uninstalling the Audigy to make sure it is still working on its own. You never know...
