Please see the title. Looking for a high end IEM for travel use. Considering the CA Trifecta, EE Raven, and also the EE Triton since its a bit cheaper. As you can see from my signature, I love ZMF headphones, and am looking for the same lush, detailed, natural (slightly warm) sound. My favorite headphones are the Caldera Open and also the Atrium Closed.

Does anyone have experience with any of these? This is going to be my first set of high end IEMs, so I have zero experience in this area.

Thank you in advance for your comments!

I would use the search function and do some reading on both to get a flavour of what they are going for with their tuning. Both are very very different, Trifecta is more analogue sounding and Raven is more traditionally technical. Both are on the warmer side of the spectrum with trifecta being the warmer of the two

The Trifecta is polarizing but it's not for everyone, definitely something I'd recommend trying first.

In that regards, the stuff from EE is safer, though I've only heard the Bravado, Legend, Odin, and Valkyrie.

FiR Xenon 6 is in your budget used, I'd look at that one, too.

The issue is with the trifecta people seem to either love it or hate it. I have a hard time understanding why.

EE seems to have a wide following, with many positive reviews. I suppose my concern is that some headphones also have a lot of positive reviews, but they are not for me, example being the Focal Utopia. I think it's a bit too resolving, like a WWE wrestler shouting in your face.

What I like about ZMF is that they are resolving but with a bit of warmth.

I wish there was a way to hear both but there is no one near me that would stock these.

With the Trifecta, it is heavily tip and source dependent. Having heard it with 10 different tips and 5 different sources, some sound awful.

Out of all my IEMs, the Empire Ears Triton sounds the most like the Atrium Closed. For reference, I use the AC with the Caldera Suede perf pads, but I also EQ in a 4dB low shelf at 112Hz to bring the bass response back up a bit. The AC has a bit more sparkle and air in the treble, but the Triton has more sub bass and mid bass since that dynamic driver is being funneled straight into your ear canals. Overall, they both have warm and lush mids with a big soundstage. They're still resolving without being analytical.

That is what the gentleman at Bloom Audio said today, was to get the Triton.

I ordered my set from Bloom Audio this morning, I'm excited but nervous!
I think you will be happy with it, Triton is better to have for travel use than Raven :dt880smile:
