Not sure if this was asked already- does the legend X sound good through just an iPhone? I’m getting a dx200 soon but I’m also curious if it can drive the LX reasonably enough to take advantage of them.

@Ethan Groover mentioned listening to Spotify through his iPhone on the Legend X to positive effect. I'm sure you'll be fine in the meantime, and the DX200 will only further sweeten the experience.

They sound fantastic through an iPhone, and you can certainly appreciate the quality, but you will hear a whole world more information from a better source!

Through my...iPhone? Far be it from me! They do sound quite spectacular through my Galaxy Note 8 however

It varies between companies, ears, tips used, etc., but the general consensus is that customs will provide a better listening experience. A part of that is sonic benefit of improved acoustics, better driver alignment, etc., but it also comes from greater comfort, a more consistent/repeatable seal and superior isolation. Also, the ability to design the IEM to your heart's content is definitely a major plus. :D
Right on!
Regardless of what tips I use, it's always a feeling that my ears are two women in labor constantly trying to push em out! And my oh my, the left one is gettin pro at it! O_o

This guy. You must have been in sales at some point in your life. I went out and bought a 2nd Legend X after reading this :o2smile:. Kidding aside awesome review!
Yeah @PinkyPowers , thanks again for helping me. The IMR R1 is still a bit harsh on the treble and bit too laid back vocals for my taste. That being said, all the rest... Bob truly did an outstanding job

You might be surprised when you get your custom Legends that we now use a horn-bore, so they are actually even easier to clean than Universals!

On the subject of customs, if anyone is interested in custom fit but unsure if it would be as perfect as everyone advertises, please don't hesitate to PM me! I'd be happy to explain the factors that go into that as well as direct anyone to an audiologist in their area with proper instructions for a perfect impression.

Would ordering a Jodi Vac be redundant then in your view?

Come to think of it, we have had quite a few reviews of the legend x but only one (nic’s) for the phantoms
Couldn't seem to find a formal head-fi review of the Phantom. Legend X has 3 so far. But within the thread though, were plenty of feedback. @ctsooner22 for example gave a tonne with music ties

Truly a Legendary review for the Legend. Thank you for writing it Pinky! I think I can speak for everyone in saying we all look forward to your reviews when you post them!

No price difference between Universal and Custom, but it is definitely not free (or even an option) to upgrade from universal to custom!

Or better yet try EE Vantage

I meant that the cost of the universal is the same as a custom and if it hasn't shipped yet something could be worked out right?

I can confirm it does.

Iphone shouldnt have any issue driving LX. Ive tested universal LX on my samsung s7 and they sound great but sound even better on the dx200 w/ amp1. Will be testing them on the amp4s this weekend vs opus#2. Depending on which sound sig I like better I might be selling my dx200 with amp1+amp4s available for sale. If interested pm me.

Not sure about the iPhone, but straight from LG V30, the Legend X sounds spectacular.

Interesting.. I had a complete opposite experience. I demo'd the LX out of my V30 at CanJam and felt it was significantly underpowered and didn't sound great. Phantom sounded fine w/ V30, but LX seems much harder to drive.

Can anyone confirm that the needle of the jody-vac consumer version fits into a custom Legend X?

The Jodi-Vac's needle is extremely small. It'll fit into the custom LX no problem, especially now with the horn bore.

I'll try to get a formal write up done. I have been listening with my Ayre QX5, AK 380cu as well as with the amp. I also use my iPhone streaming Tidal all the time when on the go adn I dno't want to lug the AK . The seal is so good, you can use them on a plane also.

Right on!

I need to know what a Jodi Vac is and where to get one please. I LOVE the custom tips as they are so easy to keep clean. Guys, if you are into what I call the musical truth, the Phantom is THE custom right now. I have heard many (not all by any means) of the top IEM's at teh show and knew I made the right choice. I call it mental mastribation when we go back and forth (no pun) and don't make up our minds on anything. I am the worst. When it comes to audio, I'm terrible, but in the end, I am usually very happy wiht my purchase. I know how hard it is to figure out your IEM at these prices etc... Nic's review at THL is DEAD ON. He and I have gone back and forth for ages about this IEM and we agree 100% on HOW it sounds.

Some want DD bass for the quantity. I get that. S ame in high end audio. If any transducer is excellent, it will play ANYTHING well. That's reality. I use the Phantom's on everything and I listen to most everything including some EDM. If you are on the fence, you can't go wrong. Yes, I feel that it's that good and it's not over 2k which for what it is, is excellent. JMHO...

JODI VAC???

JODI VAC???

http://www.jodivac.com/

It's essentially a vacuum cleaner for ear wax. It's the most effective IEM cleaner I'm aware of.

JODI VAC???

You can find them on Amazon for $99 in the states. Hopefully it's possible where you live, too.
