Odin info:

“Odin or, depending upon the dialect Woden or Wotan, was the Father of all the Gods and men. Odin is pictured either wearing a winged helm or a floppy hat, and a blue-grey cloak. He can travel to any realm within the 9 Nordic worlds. His two ravens, Huginn and Munin (Thought and Memory) fly over the world daily and return to tell him everything that has happened in Midgard. He is a God of magick, wisdom, wit, and learning. In later times, he was associated with war and bloodshed from the Viking perspective, although in earlier times, no such association was present. If anything, the wars fought by Odin exist strictly upon the Mental plane of awareness; appropriate for that of such a mentally polarized God. He is both the shaper of Wyrd and the bender of Orlog; again, a task only possible through the power of Mental thought and impress. It is he who sacrifices an eye at the well of Mimir to gain inner wisdom, and later hangs himself upon the World Tree Yggdrasil to gain the knowledge and power of the Runes. All of his actions are related to knowledge, wisdom, and the dissemination of ideas and concepts to help Mankind.

Odin can make the dead speak in order to question the wisest amongst them. His hall in Asgard is Valaskjalf (“shelf of the slain”) where his throne Hlidskjalf is located. From this throne he observes all that happens in the nine worlds. He also resides in Valhalla, where the slain warriors are taken.

Odin’s attributes are the spear Gungnir, which never misses its target, the ring Draupnir, from which every ninth night eight new rings appear, and his eight-footed steed Sleipnir. He is accompanied by the wolves Freki and Geri, to whom he gives his food for he himself consumes nothing but wine. Odin has only one eye, which blazes like the sun. His other eye he traded for a drink from the Well of Wisdom, and gained immense knowledge. On the day of the final battle, Odin will be killed by the wolf Fenrir.

Just as a point of curiosity: in no other pantheon is the head Deity also the God of Thought and Logic. It’s interesting to note that the Norse people set such a great importance upon logic. The day Wednesday (Wodensdaeg) is named for him.”

My only concern about the Odin is with all those drivers/transformers, how big the shell is going to be ...

Still, the faceplate is beautiful, and I don’t have an estat design in my collection, so I’m excited to hear more news and views.

I also LOVE how they added unique designs to their IEMs, where each feels like it has an identity of its own that transcends sound
On uni's too no less, they tend to be bland until you get to jewellery levels of pricing. I really liked the no-nonsense black pre Wraith and Valkyrie look, but the new faceplates are mhmmmm.

I have no high end audio stores anywhere around. I can never really try before I buy because of it which kinda sucks at times cause there's always that chance I wont like something and have to either return or sell it. I don't like returning things either unless it's a bad product. So an 8 hour drive isn't the worst decision to sample something nearly $3500 or it's counterpart for all I know I may like more.
Very true. I always have a better chance to demo something if the store has a demo one on the shelf. Can’t really open up a new one. Otherwise, I’m screwed too.

I didn’t dislike it, but I just felt it was a bit boring - at these prices I’d like a bit more dazzle

It’s probably not gonna be any bigger than the Wraith, considering EE are willing to make a custom version of it and not the Wraith.

Oh wow. I didn't know there was a personal audio dealer here in California. I've been looking for one for awhile now. That's actually not that far. I think I'll have to go visit them if they're going to have an Odin and other gear.

It's only a couple hours from me. Not too bad to demo, considering price of Odin.

Yes! The Source AV recently joined the Empire Fam and they should be getting their Odin and Hero demos + stock soon. I've known @TSAVAlan for quite some time and trust they will represent us well in Cali.

So there are all your answers. The Hero costs about what the Odin's cable goes for. :). The Odin is $3400. The bass isn't like the LX. The mids apparently are like the Zeus. The treble is "smooth" but extended (this is the part that concerns me). They put a PWAudio copper on it (variant of the 1960?) so we can guess that will make the upper end notes a bit fuller, push the mids forward, and add some more down low.

Nice job, EE. Fun video with Jack and Jude. Now it's just a matter of the reviews. Everyone can take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy what comes next.

ODIN's stock PWA cable is 1960 2wire (4 conductors) cable, customized with a Valknut y-split. The bass is a scaled down in quantity relative to LX, but it's the same quality, maybe even more articulate and with better control, definitely above neutral. Mids have a more natural reference quality, but far from being analytical or anemic. And treble is nothing like Wraith where you need a powerful source to bring it alive, here you get a fast, clean, extended response from any DAP source I tried it with. And overall, I find the signature to be quite balanced using stock cable and Sedna eartips (my favorite in this pair up).

I will go over in a lot more details about everything in my full review, to be published in a day or so.
