Eminem

I don't exactly hate rap and hip-hip, but I hate the cultural impact that modern hip-hop has made on the ignorant youth of today. Since when was it cool to look like you are "from the streets" and call women bitches and ho's? Half the train that I take home is filled with people that have their pants hanging down to their knees. Not to mention some of their shirts are also up to their knees. Absolutely the worst taste in dressing imo

Also, people who act "Gangsta" have driven me up the wall. In my opinions these people have absolutely NO respect whatsoever for anything but hip-hop. Almost all the violence in my neighborhood originates from gangs. Horrible... just horrible

Basically what I'm trying to say is that modern, commericial rap and hip-hop has manipulated millions of young people today. While I can agree Eminem did have some talent, he has completely sold him self out and has become just like any other rapper today

The Beastie Boys wrote and recorded, alond with some Japenese artist (I can't remember his name), the album The In Sound From Way Out. It's a very good album, in my opinion at least. Some good funk grooves going, and they played the instruments themselves which surprised me the most.

rempert...eminem can't really rhyme...the rhyme really doesn't flow at all...if anythin its a forced rhyme...just like when kids at elementary school try to write a rhymin poem...most importantly...he can't rap...you'll hear it evident in his earlier albums where he clearly doesn't know the beats of the song to rap it...gives a sense to ppl that he's fast talkin out of beat....you KNOW wat i'm talkin about...but he's gettin a lil better....also his sense of humor is just plain stupid....in marshall mathers lp anyone hear the part where a guy gives him a bj?? that's just some sick ****

tupac freestlyles like none other...go listen to hit em' up...that's call rhymin wit a flow....pac makes it so easy like he's just talkin....most pac's songs convey messages too...if you really listen to the lyrics...not just how bad my family treat me yada yada...but more of importance...

last...yes i kno who produced pac's last album...do you kno how much of a disgrace that is to tupac i think??? but then again the guy is dead....anyone who wants to borrow his voice can use it...that's why you hear tupac everywhere like he's alive somewhere recordin this stuff..

Err, Tupac is NOT famous for his flows because his rhymes are very clumsy compared to his contemporaries. However, he is famous for being one of the most identifiable thug or gangsta. He is the quintessence for other thugs. I do agree, however, that his songs are meaningful.

If you want the definition of flow you must hear Hypnotize by Notorious BIG or Microphone Fiend by Rakim. Notorious BIG is liquid on almost anything he raps about.

i agree with that...tupac doesn't flow as well as biggie....but i never said pac is famous for his flow...i just said he flows better than eminem, that's for sure....read my first post about real rap/hip hop...i mentioned dre biggie and pac...also wanna add nas and snoop...but that's back in the days...when they first came out...in my eyes biggie and tupac are two of the best....where tupac has more meaningful and educated lyrics while biggie has rhymes better more flow and better beats...either way them two artists artists now like eminem and 50cent can never compare to...

I dont knwo if you have heard all of their albums. Beastie boys are soem of the best rhyming rappers of all time, listen to Hello Nasty, and they were the first white rappers.

I think that eminem really isent that great, but the doesnt mean that all rap is crap. Listen to some old school rap, like KRS-One, N.W.A, Ice Cube, Kool G Rap, Rakim, Nas, Old Snoop, Dre, De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest and many more. These are the best rappers of all time they have great flow and in every some they are saying somethin, and if ther not saying somethin they are rhymin with skills and not talkin about all their bling and chicks liek most new rappers are. With the way rappers are now im not sure if it will be mainstream much longer, cuz most of it is really turning into crap.

Correction: The Beastie Boys have all played an instrument. They do not make their career out of playing instruments like a band. Last album, all electronic. Heck, most of what I've heard by the Beastie Boys, electronically produced (turntables, sampling, beat machines). I know they have dabbled in much more rock like music, but in more recent years they have not.

I never said they made careers out of it.

I said that they have other tallents within the music field - they all play REAL instruments and CAN make real music.

The difference between them is that Eminem can't do that. I'd like to see him even play a 4th grader's recorder

If people choose to use tallent in wierd ways, whatever, go for it -- but Eminem is using zero tallent to make absolutely nothing music-wise.

PURE commercial songs are hard to imagine as being emotional, unless you are very talented. Its hard to imagine a song which as been done only for commercial intersted. (I doubt there is one)

With every new 'style' this has always been the case. Imagine the shock the beatles had on some adults due to their "rebellious long hair". Hippies were also an good example about "culture gone wrong". It should end in maybe 10 years? Or perhaps its made to stay.

I agree. However, if you havent heard the song (I havent), its hard to judge it. The repetition of 'em might go well with the song. Also, there are many songs that rhyme well by eminem, does this mean that logically he should be both talentless and have talent?

Blah.

One of the only reasons I would listen to eminem is because I enjoy the way he conveys emotions (especially rage). My all time favourite song is The way I am.

EMinem has talent, you cant rhyme like he can and put a story or your life into rhymes like he can, and he produces music which is hard to do

Yes, but a lot of todays rap music talks about murder, drugs, sex and illegal things. Hippie music was about getting high, peace, and feeling good. I dont know about you, but I'd rather my children (if I had any) listen to hippie music.

you kinda just contradicted yourself....this kid can't rhyme...can't really rap either...not as bad as when he just came out....if you think about it...i don't think i can name a known rapper right now that's worse than eminem at rappin

May 19, 2005 at 4:52 AM Post #44 of 127
Since so many people here seem to think eminem is talentless as a rapper, lets concider him as a hip hop artist. Just the fact that so many fans like him says that he has talent. Maybe not the speed when rapping, maybe not rhyming skills, but he can make what I would call "music".

Maybe we should make a new genre called "eminism" to support his 'hidden' talent.

Ahh now I see, popularity directly correlates with talent. All this time i thought Simple Plan and Good Charlotte sucked... guess i must be wrong since lots of people like them.
