AS many will reco here, try to find a Sony N500. It's also great for redbook playback as well!!! You get a good dvd player and a good cdp to boot, how can you lose. It has been discontinued for a few months now, but can still be found if you look hard enough!!

Are you going to use it for movies only?
Are you into imports?
If so you can get one of those Daewoo 3000N DVD players in your local supermarket for about $60 that are very hackable and can play any DVD on earth.
Now if you want this to double as your headphone source then this won't be an ideal choice.
(But for $60 you can't beat it as a multi region player with the correct hacks)
