What concerns me beyond what is going on here is the near total lack of feedback that would indicate that there have been problems in the past. I was more than a little suprised to see that Pangaea was the only member who reported a problem in over 5 pages of glowing feedback.

Am I misreading the situation? The other threads linked to seem to suggest there have been some serious issues with communications and delivery in the past with multiple members. I am just trying to figure out why so little of that is reflected in EFN's feedback.

That isn't really the point. Some people seem to be having problems now, and numerous folks had problems in the past. If people aren't posting feedback on their trading experiences with other members then they are doing a great disservice to their fellow head-fiers. That is my point.

It is a lack of honest feedback that sometimes explains how we end up with a lot of folks complaining that they have not received what they paid for or have been left in a holding pattern for months.

In the interest of full disclosure I was paid back- after about a yr. And it was not without being misled and dragged along (and most important to me- my time was wasted sending back a faulty LOD overseas which was never repaired or returned).

And ultimately I (and others) felt generally scorned for outing such a prolific member, which in my opinion is the reason so many stayed quiet (to answer your question, Jerome). I asked at the time that he be banned from at least selling things and it shocked me the way he dived right back into the FS forum (once he was back) and no one seemed the wiser.

This is my last post is this thread, I wish the OP well and others that are owed something.

To EFN, fool me once...

I appreciate the response and the fact that you had the presence of mind to document your experience with feedback. It's unfortunate that others who had bad experiences failed to do the same. If they did, the current situation might have been avoided.

And it isn't always someone who intends to rip you off that is a problem. Sometimes it is people who mean well but get in over their head. It is easy to do as a DIYer, and pretty soon the number of outstanding orders vastly exceeds your available time and you can't keep up. Some people don't have the good sense to pull back and just stop taking orders to give themselves some breathing space.

As someone who has had good experiences buying and selling used gear on Head-Fi, I have experienced shipping delays as a seller. But never more than one or two days. Even then, I always notify the buyer in order to manage expectations. If I was in a situation where it became clear that a shipping delay of a month or longer was unavoidable then I would contact the buyer and offer him or her a refund.

With all my trading here on head-fi, I always leave feedback as soon as I receive the item. I always try to be in constant contact with a buyer to make sure I let them know what's going on.

It seems not everyone shares my view on trading online, but thats the way it is....

That other thread from EFN was an old one which didn't involve me. This is a new issue. Either way, its just extremely weird for him to drop from contact because he was pretty quick at responding previously.
