I need some recommendations for efficient bookshelf speakers. I got a Fisher integrated and a Harman Kardon that both put out about 18-30 wpc. I don't think I want to spend more than $200 for my main speakers died so I gotta replace those too. These would just be for my bedroom rig and I plan to get a cheap sub too.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

The PSB Alpha A/V are 93 db efficient and have steady 6ohm impedance which is the really important number.I have used them with amps as little as 3.5 watts and they sound great,

thanks tuberoller!
I would've bought macdef's psbs but I had to pay for the Fisher 400 that's on it's way. I usually take about a month to research and such so I still my go that way, though darkclouds post on the Pi's look good too.

Wow the PSB's are that efficient and the impedance is steady. They must be a wonderful budget speaker for SE amps.

I think I may go the way of those Pi twos or threes that darkclouds posted about. I threw away my wallet after getting two amps and a load of tubes so those kits are looking really nice...

millerdog,

if you were thinking about the 3 pi, might as well swing for the theater 4 pi with their 15" woofers going down to 25 Hz. Who needs a sub. Oh yeah, sensitivity at 101 dB, maybe the microZotl can drive that.

lol!
Hey! I got budget constraints too! But wouldn't that be cool? the ZOTL driving those puppies! lol Actually I shouldn't laugh, there have been some posts on AA where some have actually tried it! I mean driving speakers with the ZOTL. Some report nice results.

The only speaker that I can recomend are over your budget
evil_smiley.gif
at $300.00 for the kit and another $50.00 for wood and glue.
Adire HE10.1's are a kit speaker. A high quality speaker at 95dB gives good base. Would be hard to find anyghing better under 1K.

I've used this with my Fisher 500C, Fisher SA300 and even a Marantz 2230 receiver. Great little speaker!
Adire has nice sub kits too.

Hmm...I have recently found that you can build full range speakers with only one driver...
will keep you informed. Or if someone can inform us?
