Hi all,
Last week I received my Corda HA-2 MkII SE amplifier from Jan Meier. After completeing its 150-hour burn-in, I listened to it for several days to get a feel for its character. Yesterday, I began A-B tests with my Berning micro-ZOTL.
With my Berning, I've been using Black Sand Cable's Violet Z1 power cord. I found it greatly improves soundstaging, especially depth. Using the Violet Z1with the Corda, however, I notice no difference at all in comparison to a plain black power cord. Why?
When I turn off the power switch on the Corda, the amp still plays for about five seconds. When I turn off the power switch on the Berning, the sound dies immediately. Is it possible that the Corda's power reserves (big caps?) make it immune to power problems that a high-quality power cord rectifies, whereas the Berning benefits from help with power, given its lack of power reserves?
I'd appreciate your thoughts.
Best,
Eric.
