Hey Guys, I noticed there weren't any general discussion threads about EDM, and I figured I needed to start up one. The reason why I put it in Members' Lounge instead of the Music forum is because I wanted it to be a broad discussion about EDM, such as Artists, Upcoming Concerts, Sick EDM Merchandise, The best sites to listen to EDM on, and probably a little bit about the best headphones for EDM. Oh, and not to forget epic songs that you can't possible keep to yourself after listening. If you don't know what EDM is, I'll get to that...
 
Some people may be sitting here and thinking, "What is EDM?". Well I will answer that for you: EDM is a broad spectrum of basically all the different types of modern electronic music. The main EDM genres are: Dubstep, Electro, House, Trap, Hardstyle, Techno, Trance, Glitch-hop, Drumstep, DnB, Future Bass, Big Room, and Nu Disco. After these the genres, it starts splitting into sub-genres.
 
I hope this thread will become a large and active with tons of EDM fans out there. Please, invite your friends to talk and discuss with us! 
A few rules: No spamming, and only post things relative to the topic of EDM.

I used to love EMD in general but seems like alot of the good stuff is dying out to the mainstream moneymachine.

EMD would be a nice abreviation to xD

Btw, it happened with many genres. But understand that EDM is to vague. Incitialy it was basicly electro & progressive house.
SHM leave the world behind was a good example of that. Still when festival music was ok. Then other came in with Dirty Dutch House ( thats what they usually called it) , those where Afrojack, Hardwell , Chuckie etc. I still remeber those guys in 2009 and 2010, totally diferent sound. Ultimatly DVLM came with the track Mammoth and Sandro Silva with Epic and they forever changed the electro house scene. They started to call it Big room house. Though this genre doesnt respect much the house rythm and its a bit to fast. Its all about drops not grooves. Which made the genre to monotonuos. 

Though there are still some good producers like: Michael Burn, Project 46, Dubvision etc. which have some cool tracks in terms of " Big room house".

Instead of EDM its better to call it Electronic Music. Those genres are far apart. Like i sad, EDM came basicly from Electro House and Progressive House.

Yea, the overall name for the electronic music is EDM, hence: Electronic Dance Music. Maybe EDM seems a bit vague, because many people that listen to different electronic types like dubstep, etc. but really don't know the main category including all the electronic-type music is EDM.
The only reason I called it EDM was because electronic is much a  more broad topic and could include genres like disco, or the electronic keyboard, or even the windows startup; (Its really basically anything with synthesizers.) Therefore I want to specifically point out that the thread is for modern electronic music, (a.k.a. EDM).

This is good link, but today you can mix several of the genres in one song. So its dificult to define.

Lol i sad that info is good. Though in electronic there so much to see, if you find something good you want to be more expecific and find more of the same.
But at the end you know so many subgenres xD

I use usually last fm or listen to compilations of the same tipe of music.
You can discover some good artists.
YT channels are great too.
In the comment sections you find some great stuff too.

No, EDM is electronic dance music. Not all electronic music is dance music. There is also electronic ambient, orchestral, rock, industrial, EBM, and many others.
