Any suggestions for good earphones...prefferably canal earphones, for under $60 to be used with ipod/walkman phone?

Are there any better than the Sony ex71 canal phones?

thanks.

Here's the part where I recommend things I haven't actually heard

Sennheiser's CX300s are supposed to be pretty good, as are the Creative EP-630s. If you push your budget up by $10 you can get Altec Lansing im716s from amazon right now with free shipping.

CX-300 is very similar in performance to the Creative EP630 IMO, and to me EP630 is more worth purchasing as compared to the CX-300, and it should be cheaper as well (at least it is locally). The CX-300 also (to my ears) has the treble as shrill as that of the EX71 IMHO.

Compared to the EX71... well, personally, I think the EX71 is rubbish for its price, and its performance isn't very stellar compared to normal earbuds as well. The EP630 trounces it flat by being more controlled yet just as strong in the bass, and is more detailed (same goes for the CX-300 VS the EX71, but CX-300's treble isn't much to speak of IMHO).

In the end, I'd recommend the EP630.

I have The Sony EX71s. They're OK for $28, bassy. Very thin fragile wires, easy to break/stretch. I like my Shure E2c a lot better (about $70). I'm interested in the PX100s right now (about $40?). Edit: He mentioned a phone for use. You can't use any of these with a cellphone, jack is too big.

I would say the Creative EP-630's for cheap canalphones, I got them for $25 shipped, not bad. But if you really want to step it up, only $10 over your budget (at $69.99 with free shipping), the iM716's from amazon are a great choice.

Here, go crazy, there are 291 of them. Unless you are listening to $100 plus headphones, I think for under $60 there is not a huge difference. Listen to all the other experts here. For IEM, I have always liked Sony, Panasonic, JVC and Aiwa headsets. There a lot to choose from, so maybe like get 3 $20 ones and play with them. Have fun and happy shopping!

ok now ive been thinking....and i think for now it's going to be between the creative EP-630s and senn cx300s. They look almost identical, but is the extra $$ for the senn cx300 worth it..even if i could just get em from ebay for roughly the same price..which should i get?

I'll eat my hat if anyone can prove a difference between these earphones apart from different runs at the factory. (ebay OEM ep-630's have J-cords, direct from Creative they have a Y) I give my rant on this subject in this thread

Hmm.. interesting stuff, I have the Y-style cord myself. But yeah, there is basically no difference at all besides the cord style, get whatever is cheapest or if you prefer a type of sytle of the cord.
