Earbuds hurt my ears. Am I destined to never be able to wear earbuds?

I've tried several earbuds and different tips, and after multiple attempts, have to stop using them due to my ears hurting. I really want to use earbuds for their ability to reduce ambient noise such as when flying. Any advice, or are am I doomed?

Also what part of your Ear is hurting? Or is it simply the entire ear?

Try IEMs if earbuds hurt, they isolate better anyways and leak a lot less

I was like you until I tried xiaomi piston 3's. Soft variable size replaceable plugs mean you can find the right size for your ear canal and they actually stay in and are comfy!
