I bought a set of Beyerdynamic DT770-PRO-250OHM headphones a few years ago from Adorama. They were sold as demos with new ear pads. Just realized the stock ear pads should be grey and mine came with black which I assume are aftermarket. They are comfortable and I'm not experiencing any problems with them. But I'm wondering if the sound quality is adversely affected. Should I replace with the OEM ear pads which I believe are Beyerdynamic part number EDT770V? $34 on Amazon.
I bought these cans for use when I need closed back. My open back cans are Sennheiser HD650. Amp is Schiit Valhalla.

maybe?  beyer does sell black velour earpads for the 770's ... so it could well be the pads are indeed beyer pads.
 
However.. depending on how much you use the 770's it could well be time for new pads... I replaced my DT770's earpads after 1.5yrs ..
 
if you like the black pads but want new ones anyways..because the current ones have deteriorated or whatever...
 
look on amazon for the Beyerdynamic EDT770VB  which seem to be $33.61 at the moment.
