EAC and problems ripping to FLAC

Hello. This is my first post and I decided to join to get help with a problem I can't seem to solve.
 
I installed the latest 1.03 beta of EAC and tried ripping to FLAC, but it keeps giving me only WAV files.  I read up on this problem, went through different iterations of setups, but all with negative results.  I even tried deleting EAC and reinstalling the second to last beta version. No luck either.
 
I've not fooled around with audio in several years, but I remember being able to rip stuff to FLAC from EAC about 7 years ago.  Yet somehow, I can't make it work this time despite following many of the internet FAQs as closely as possible.
 
Any ideas what I can try?  At the moment I'm just making do with converting WAV to FLAC using Foobar afterwards, but that's really cumbersome.

When you go to copy from the disc to the library, select copy compressed, not just copy.
