E4c or ER-4p?

I'm looking for accurate, balanced iems with good highs. Comfort is also important. Which is better between E4c and ER-4p and does the E4c have the same cable problems as the SE line and the e500?

Can you use the Shure black foamies with the ER-4p?

accuracy and highs goes to er-4. i give comfort to e4 cuz although they feel the same in ear (interchangeable tips), shures are designed to have the cord hang back over the ear, and er-4 is not but people dot it anyway

If good highs are important to you, I would steer away from the E4Cs. The sound is full but the highs are significantly truncated when compared to the the Etys. However, if you want both the highs and full sound you may want to consider the UE Triple.fis.

yeh for your tastes id certainly recommend the er4p,the triple fi still dont have the highs of the ety. and many people obsessed with highs will not settle for any amount of bass so you may find the triple fi's dissapointing, some will say the er4 have bass and good bass but in all honesty bass is supposed to be felt and as earphones cant make feeling its all about nice smooth boom and the er4 really lack any sort of boom at all,no punch or feeling but may well be to your tastes

I've heard that e4c highs are pretty good, are etys really that much better?

After reading these posts, I'm leaning toward etys. However, I've heard that they have problems with cord noise? How can I fix this? Also, does an amp improve their sound significantly?

I just read about the Westone 3s. Are these going to be comparable to er4ps in sound? I know the low and mids will probably be better, but will the highs be as good?

Weren't you just commenting on high cost. The Westone 3, which aren't out yet, will retail for $399.99.

I own the Shure E4. While they do have rolled off highs, in common with all Shure IEMs, the roll off is not as pronounced as many of their other models. Futhermore, this negative can be corrected to some degree through proper use of an equalizer.

The mid-range on the Shure E4 is fantastic.

I don't have the money now, but I would by the time the Westone comes out. I'm wondering whether or not it's worth waiting for.
If e4 has rolled of highs, that takes them out of the picture. I have e500 and the rolled off highs annoy me.

Antony, the Etymotic have more detail, better highs and clearer mids compared to the Shure E4. Bass is lightly more on the E4, but Etys have more deep and textured bass. I would take the Etys even if I had to pay 60$ more for them.

For accuracy and good highs my vote goes to er4s.

For musical enjoyment, comfort, and ease of use, I'd stick to the e4cs.

I've owned both and unfortunately sold the wrong pair. My er4-s is currently in its box collecting dust.

Yes you can, they fit like a glove. And for my money its the E4c.
