All of the sudden the left channel on my e4cs is noticeably quieter than the right channel and the sound is somewhat distant. When I change the balance toward the left side, the sound doesnt get any louder, just starts to distort.

What could have caused this problem? I just cleaned the tips in some water and dried them in paper towels but I suppose there is a chance that a tiny drop of water could have gotten in, but I don't see how it could have made it to the driver.

Exactly the same thing happened when I had my e3c. Don't know what caused it too. Call Shure and they should be able to sort out a replacement.
