I just got these today, based on numerous recommendations, including this boards archives.

I don't know whether these will benefit or not from a burn in....frankly, I don't even know how or what burning in is, but i'm interested nonetheless.

If anybody could help me out with this, it would be greatly appreciated.

I know when this reply is posted, I'm not the first to reply... but here it is:

Burn-in just means to play music or "white noise" at regular listening volume through the headphones/plugs/speakers you have. The headphone's diaphragm is hard and unused from the factory, but after some burn-in the diaphragm will losen itself up a little, so especially treble and upper midrange will have the most significant change in sound - from more grainy and harsh, to a more soft and "whole" response.

EDIT: What no-one kind enough to help a kind person asking a question ?

EDIT 2: Don't really know about in-ear phones, but I have *heard* that the sound of in-ear phones doesn't change very much, compared to what some headphones can. But still I'm not sure at it at all. It won't hurt burnin-in....

thanks daroid.

I love high treble, I prefer a higher sound, so if burning in benefits these phones, I definitely want to do it.

How long should the burn-in be done, and on what source (ex: I have an ipod i'll be mostly using them on, and I also have a receiver I can pump audio from)... Also, at what volume? normal listening volume, or max volume?

If anybody has any experience with e2's, and burning in, i'd love to hear what happened, and whether there is any difference.

something "d-o-o" economics.....voodoo economics....

I had the E2's for a while--- and may end up going back to them since I just have a really hard time affording/justifying ER4's...

will you be using the E2s with a portable cd player? will they be amped? my experience with them was unamped and i found them muffled with my home system receiver, but better with a portable. great bass and mids, but since they are full range in ear monitors, their sound won't be as clear as something like the E1's or the ER6's.... so don't expect a sound with alot of high end, although alot of people hear claim that there's enough high end... maybe i just like more treble than others do.

They are going to be used maybe 90% iPod, 10% PC.

They do sound a bit muffled when compared to the KSC-50's I was using (I was using them with treble booster on the ipod, so its a fair difference), but after 20 minutes of wear, my ears got quite used to the sound of the E2s.

Do you think burning in will help in the development of the treble/highs? If I burn in, should I use any equalizer settings?

Right now, I have it playing on shuffle, without equalizer, on normal volume....I plan to listen to it with treble booster.

Am I wasting my time? If not, how long should I allow it to continue "burning in"?

I don't think it's a dumb question. I don't know if canalphones break in the same way that typical cans do. Since the seal with the ear canal is what provides the proper bass, I'm guessing the break-in would help treble response as opposed to bass response. I wonder if the Ety users would know how to better break in canalphones...
