E-MU Wooden Series Headphones

That's Chan, my Man, form E-MU. Mr. Very Nice.
I am expecting an autographed Teak, then, as well as a signed Christmas card from the company at Christmas time, such as I got from Penon

Teak should be here in ~10 hours (though my ZMF Eikon hybrid pads for them are in an unknown location). Order was placed June 3st, and processing/shipping/delivery will have taken exactly 1 week to MN, USA.

EDIT: BRB 1 more week, since you can't trust any mail services these days to actual deliver your stuff to you, with any proof of delivery, or to have door knocking/buzzing courtesy, to prevent mail theft. Some punk scored a nice headphone today. Hope they enjoy it. :relaxed::clap:

Ohhhhhh.

Yeahhhhhhhh.

Baby.

:sunglasses:

I think these were made for Red Hot Chili Peppers, smooth jazz, and acoustic anything. I don't find this kind of bass so good for electronic.

I'll likely be selling them. The sound is a bit uncomfortable/fatiguing/overly energetic, the bass is too slow/murky, and the mids seem too distant(or lacking information). Strongly prefer Hook-X over them, being far smoother, with greater bass and balance. I probably prefer M40X over it, as well, for balance and a more even/consistent and enjoyable/engaging presentation of energy.

Let's see how ModHouse Argon with Xenon pads do.

Still running my EMU-Teak's as my main headphone for the last two years, alongside my HE-500. I still consider the Teak to be the best headphone I got. It just strikes this fine balance between detail, tonality, bass, soundstage/imaging and impact that is hard to match. In fact I consider this headphone quite neutral, you could use it for mixing or editing easily. I still got to make that video review I promised Chan though. By that time I will order the Palo Santo Artisan cups, Ebony cups and I believe I am missing one more woody cup in order to complete the collection.

https://drop.com/buy/emu-wood-series-headphones/photos?defaultSelectionIds=967472 Btw did this just fly over everyone's radar? EMU-Teak's available at an absolute steal of a price for 450$ I remember the X00 Purpleheart going for 550$ back in 2016 and people said that was cheap. 450$ for the EMU Teak is an absolute bargain I can guarantee that.

Looks like Teak is back on the menu boys
Where were they ever $550 at, though? The same place they're a "steal" at? : )

Quite close, yes. But I think they removable cable versions are still a better buy if they are available.

Yeah, the fixed cable version is normally $480 shipped directly from E-Mu and detachable cable version is normally $530. So not actually that hot of a deal. It's basically just free shipping.

And you can choose whatever other types of cups you want to buy/try, from E-MU, and get faster shipping.

"A pretty closed-back on a budget"

I suppose he doesn't specify that that budget is basically limitless.

Calling the Teak a budget headphone is just absurd.

That’s a matter of perspective from where he is looking at. Even objectively, they are a budget closed back where market is at.

There are hardly any decent closed backs especially at this price point, Audeze LCD XC, Celestee, Liric, Stellia, VC are all 2x+ And most of them have some issues due to the nature of closed back.

Edition XS is actually incredibly good at $500, but just too much treble energy/brightness for me, and not enough warmth & bass. :frowning2: I've had a lot better luck with IEMs than headphones, and it's sad that headphones always cost so much more, for generally worse sound. So, $500 in the headphone world doesn't get you much... You need to start at about $1500 lol. And still, where is the perfect headphone at, with unlimited budget? MOST headphones have weak bass, for starters. I can only think of maybe SR-007, X9000, LCD-4, Stellia sounded pretty good. Never heard Susvara yet, LCD-X, K812, or a ZMF. I have my doubts about all of these except LCD-X. Mobius is probably the best closed back under $500 I've heard so far. Excellent, "standard" flavor of sound, but the pads get HOT, and all the dumb buttons are dumb.

Choosing a headphone by individual trait is much easier:

Great treble? HD800S/Arya/X9000/HE1000SE
Great bass? LCD-3/Denon/Fostex/HE6 v1
Great mids? HD600

My Teak(tested once) + 2 pad sets(ZMF Eikon hybrid, Fostex EX-EP-61) are for sale to USA in the classifieds, if anyone's hunting around.

I bought @CT007 's Teaks, just got them in today. Oh man, these cans are right up my alley, lol. This bass is so rich and these highs are so sugary sweet. What a tasty, tasty headphone.
