Can you say "vaporware?"

That thing was announced like 6 months ago, and every once in a while it pops up with a shipping date that's "very soon"

i've been following edigital and this player for a year now. the company is quite a scam, with regular pump-n-dump plays in the OTC market (sign:EDIG). they have been surviving through private sales of company stock. thier retail sales are extremely weak because most of thier products (Treo) are outdated, and the others (Odyssey 100,200,300) are overpriced for the solid-state memory catagory. the odyssey1000 is basically thier last hope, and they overpriced it at $400. it uses only a regular notebook hard drive, not the smaller/lighter Toshibas found in the iPod. Also, it is not clear if or when it will be sold. they kept missing product release dates so they stopped giving dates. edigital is also known for very poor customer service on the few products they do have. A comparable product, the Nomad Zen (i own one) can be had for $300, with another $30 getting you an in line remote that has radio, recording, LCD, etc.. the one thing setting the edig player apart is the VoiceNav technology which is supposed to work pretty good according to one review i read of it on an older product. the larger LCD is nice too. regardless i would not be one of the first in the line to get one of the Odyssey 1000s, better to wait and see. Also, check out the Bantam BA1000 for another upcoming hard drive player (http://gear.ign.com/articles/376/376972p1.html)

- Does this mean that it produces better sound than even the most expensive über headphone amps?
