Back in the headphone game, currently using Sundara through Schiit Magni 3+/Modi. I’m looking for suggestions for a set of dynamic phones that will give me different sonic window when I choose. I would prefer to stay under/at $500, maybe higher resistance in case I give in to tube lust. Also, I’m a BOF, so upper frequencies can’t bother me since I can’t hear them! Thanks for the help.

I love the Philips Fidelio X2HR which is a dynamic headphone. I own a few pairs of planars such as the HE-400i and Aeon Flow Open and the X2HR compliments these very well. This is due to the bass boost and roll off in the highs. The X2HR is very fun to listen to and still reference class. The build quality is stellar, but I wish you could buy replacement pads.

Beyer DT 1990? I haven't heard the Sundara, but they complement my PM-3 very nicely.
They retail for $600, but can often be found for less. I think I recall somebody semi-recently saying they picked them up for $400 on Amazon.
Bonus that it sounds like the treble probably won't bother you.
