Fair summingup. I have a Rega DAC in front of my Tag McLaren (formerly Audiolab) hifi and it does add an analogue sense of naturalness.

That I would also agree with having had the original Rega cd player

Bought! :) WHat do you think- Should i buy a 128GB SD or 64GB SD? The 128GB seem really overpriced

128GB for convenience if you have enough music and money, 64GB for economy.

128GB is not overpriced, there is always a premium price on the top range model and latest tech

I got one on Amazon a while back for 99 dollars for the 128gb. Even at 119 it isn't bad and you get a lot of storage all in one card.

i had the same dilemma - i bought 2 64gb for 2/3 of the price.

money-wise, you can buy 3 64gb cards for the money of 1 card of 128gb

What worries me now -:) is whether given the above, if the Rega feeds my valve amplifier it will sound too warm.

Just to confuse matters in my mind, since winning the Rega off EBay, I have seen amazing reviews of the Metrum Octave, & I wonder if that dac would have been a better receiver of thecoaxial output of the DX90?:D

So i just updated to lurker firmware. Anyone else feel the bass has taken a back seat? One thing I liked about the dx90 was that it was a little warm. Going give it a few more days and hopefully my ears will adjust to the new sound sig. I'm also getting my balance cables tomorrow, so time will tell.

Something new on the OTG chapter with external Hard drive.I just found out
I was playing with my otg powered  cable from amazon (see one of my previous post) I was not able to make it works so I was going to order a powered USB hub to give power to a HD 2 TB but I came into a post # 5872 on this page http://www.head-fi.org/t/697035/ibasso-dx90-dual-sabre-1st-page-downloads-general-info-instructions-new-dac-software/5865#post_10596973 that gave me the idea (Before messing around the pins out on the cable) to try different power supply  beside the one provided by  Amazon with th DX90 or a Samsung for S4 I was using until now.
Next one was a Beats USB from my daughter speaker and bingo, external drive Seagate is working perfect I got 2 TB of Music first test was Fat 32 but since Ibasso told me NTFS would work also I just checked and yes I confirm  NTFS is working.
So next step is to figure out what is the difference with this PS Model KSAPK01 110500210HU and a regular one But I suspect something to do with pin 4 and 5 probably got a resistor between them Or I am not going to bother and just borrow for ever the Beats PS!
--------
Edit
Well since this and to avoid power drain from the battery I cut the red wire V+ going to the DX90 and now any power supply is working I just need to add a switch between the cut of V+ to reapply power for charging DX90when the unit is off.

slickooz if you haven't put 200 hours on your DX90 you will still be getting some bass back I believe. But the lurker firmware is more mid-centric. Still not too much for my TG334s with their dual mids IMHO. I wonder if non-lurker will get some bass back for you, that would be an interesting experiment.

Ran the Lurker FW for some time and liked it, went back to stock FW, 2.1.0 and like it maybe even more. very open, detailed and layered. Nice to have choices!

Lurker firmware has lower software induced distortion than the stock one, that's why it comes across as less bassy, less warm, less layered. I know how you feel though, sometimes that warm fuzzy (distorted) sound can often sound "better", but the lurker firmware is simply more technically proficient in every area, allowing you to hear what the DX90 hardware truly sounds like, as well as what the recording and your iems truly sound like through the DX90 hardware. The DX90 amp section sounds darn nice, a slight amount of warmth through the range, but overall very balanced, the OPA1611+BUF634 is as good as any other combo out there, or better, imo it strikes a perfect balance between analytical/warm/fun/neutral, its a tiny bit of all and just comes across as balanced sounding.

Just stick to whatever sounds best to you though.

But the lurker firmware is more mid-centric.

Lurker firmware is not mid centric (the first version was to an extent), but the second version is completely flat and balanced.

I don't know which one I was running. When did the second one come out?

Its possible you only used the first version, you never updated the OP to the second version post. Just to be sure, download the new firmware, its a HUGE improvement over the first one. Here it is:
