No problemo, everyone's just trying to help out.  A balanced line out is what I'm waiting for on the next Dx100/AK120.  =P

+1

My budget for a DAP just got a nice $400 boost, going with a Hm 801. For better sound quality and power, not to mention a FULL SIZED SDHC 32gb and a very much needed pc Dac function

No....single ended.  I don't think there is a DAP with a balanced out *yet*.  Usually people run a DAP to a portable DAC that has a balanced out to a portable amp that has balanced in and out to have a balanced rig on the go......I think it's pretty much overkill for the most part and don't hear much of a difference....but I've only tried going from DX100 single ended line out to ALO MK3-B balanced out to my headphone.

Not overkill.  In the right amp a balanced output gives bigger voltage swing for high impedence headphones.

Oh yea, the HM 801 had a balanced out like adapter thingy amp card... so there's that. Although I'm going for the stock card my self

MOVING on, any one got thier DX 50 yet :D

You could always go:

DX50 -> DB2 -> PB2 -> balanced cans!

Should be an interesting comparison with the DX100

I am hoping that the performance of the DX50 as a purely digital transport should be comparable to (if not better than) that of the DX100, due to its relative lack of complexity...

Though all transports ought to sound the same, they don't because...well...different ports on audio devices just sound different. Let's hope they didn't skimp on the digital out of the DX50. If they didn't, it will sound just like the digital out of your DX100 :)

Indeed that would be nice, but I doubt it. If the audio quality of the Dx 50 was as good as the Dx100 it would deture the purchase of the Dx100.

Low level players usually have the house sound, without the... refinement. I'll get a better understanding of that my self, when I hear mah new Hm 801, as I used to own a 601

I'm going to go with the following: DX50 --> CIEMs.
All part of my odd desire to keep portable gear portable.  Go figure.

I know right... LAWL

I'm of the opinon... portable means, almost as big as my full size... BUT it's fit's in this BIG bag and runs on BATTERIES lol

Yea I was never a real portable guy my self, iems drive me nuts, and portable cans sound horrific compared to full size ones... so for that I have to be burdened with carrying around 4lbs of stuff, Although I'm like a mule anyways so what do i care

I believe that the 3.5 coax is delivering out the digital signal before it reaches the DAC stage and is converted to analog. So, this would be using the DX50 as a "transport"/player by feeding the digital signal out to an external DAC.

Line Out would be using the DX50 DAC and then feeding the (now converted to analog) signal out to an external amplifier.

Headphone Out uses everything from the DX50 - DAC + amplifier.

this should go to DX50's product FAQ :)

I have dropped an email to iBasso to ask if there will be any delay to the second batch in view that the first batch is delayed.

Their answer to me was no and the second batch will ship as scheduled.

Well, yesterday I bought a 9mm 500gb thin external hd. I tried it with both the samsung galaxy s3 and the nexus 7. Both did not have the power to drivr it. It would be interesting to know, how much power th DX50 outputs from the usb. Hopefully it is enough for a hd.
