Quote: Will this AK120 portable player have an output impedance usable with portable headphones? Anyway, I'm glad to see the competition is heating up. I wonder if Cowon will pull themselves out of their death spiral anytime soon?
Quote: It is 3 ohm so it is much better than what it was on the AK100. The price is high, I mean real high but than again it is going to have DSD playback and USB DAC with dual DAC for each channel. I guess it must be nothing but perfect in order for it to be sold at a $1200 USD price tag.
Quote: 3 ohm? That sorta rules out "perfect" as it would still be a bit high for many (c)iems. Much better than the AK100 though! $1200?!? Makes my DX100 seem like a bargain!
I'm keeping my Japanese DX100 unless something is better, smaller and has a coaxial output comes out. I will be oing to see the DX50 for myself at Addicted To Audio when it comes out.
i think the dx50 will be a really good option if priced right and has output under 1ohm / i dont think many people will jump the ak120 bangwagon, .. rwak100 seems like a bargain right now
AK120 will have to beat HDP-R10 by a big margin, since the Japanese DX100 can play DSD too, and it has lower output impedance <1Ω, to accommodate for example the upcoming Shure SE846 with its 9Ω. Besides, theoretically, the DX100 can play DSD too, it just needs a firmware update / a Figgie hack to do so I guess.
