DX320 ROHM dac chips, Android 11, AMP11MK2s. *******NEW FW: 2.07*******

If you don't know, it is not a stupid question. It is more stupid to act without knowing and not asking.

The coax output is a digital output to another dac system. The DX320 would act as a storage unit for the music to an external dac via the coax cable. The line out is using the DX320 dac system put out an analog signal to an external amplifier, be it portable or a desktop system.

Thanks, that makes more sense now.

To be honest, I'm quite surprised that iBasso didn't supply us with a interconnect 4.4mm line out cable with AMP12 but I guess it shouldn't cost too much to get one from Amazon.
I was thinking about experimenting with my modded AMP12EXN-S with my new FiiO R9 since I love the sound of my DX320 already.

Now I have never used 4.4mm line out before, so I feed a short 4.4mm interconnect cable from AMP12 into my Fiio R9's 4.4mm headphone out? Or does my Fiio R9 need a specific 4.4mm line in socket? Not sure how any of this works, since I have never used line out before.

You have to use a line in, from a line out. I would look at the manual for where the in is and what type of connection it takes.

Yes, your Fiio needs balanced socket, if you want balanced line.

Unfortunately my R9 doesn't have line in input at all so there is no way to do that, but that's ok.

Just to be clear, if I use the 4.4mm Line Out socket in AMP12 of my DX320 and connect it to a DAC/AMP device that has a 4.4mm line in input, I'm basically just transferring the DAC signal from my DX320 right and using the amp of the other device right? It has nothing to do with AMP12?

So this is essentially the same as dual 3-pin XLR balanced connection from a separate desktop DAC component to a separate desktop headphone amplifier right?

I also have a 4.4mm to dual 3-pin XLR cable, that would also work as line out if I have an amp that has balanced input 3-pin XLR in the back of the amp right?

With AMP12 yes. I use a 4.4 plug to XLR plugs. It works great. A true line out and excellent dac chips!

Good, because I absolutely love the ROHM DAC, I can't settle for anything other than it tbo.

Thanks!

I'm sure this has been answer before but can't find it on this thread:

For Amp 14 or 12 Line Out, I believe those support both balanced and single ended correct? For single ended, the wiring would simply take the R- and L- from the 4.4mm output to the single GND on the input? Or connect 4.4mm GND to 3.5mm GND (no connect for R- L-)? I assume R+ and L+ just connect as labeled.

Thanks!

Hey bflat, my understanding is it's not safe to short 4.4mm R- and L- to the GND on 3.5mm, so best to use with external amps which take 4.4mm Balanced inputs.

For amps with 3.5mm single-ended inputs, suggest to use Amp11Mk2's Line Out port.

You never take the R- and L- to ground. They aren't used to make single ended output. Take them to ground and ruin the amp and possibly the dap. Try grounding the battery on your car on the voltage side. Don't, it will explode.

Thanks! I was thinking more like headphone adapters but got the correct wiring from iBasso support - simply connect R+ L+ and GND to the respective pins.

This will be for my new Stax SR-003 MKii and SRM-D10 ii setup.

Hi all, not sure if anyone's still on the thread but I'm so happy to finally get the Amp12 and complete the DX320 X amp card collection

Don't know if its placebo but they definitely sound different to me.. my current fav is Amp14 <=> Amp 12 > Amp13 > Amp11mk2.

Happy to do an AMA and let me know if you have any questions between the 4 amps (Amp11mk2, 12, 13, 14).

Best,
sanakimpro

You should try amp 12 EXN or other mods of this amp made by @Whitigir or NP Audio: https://www.npaudio.uk/npaudio-modifications/ibasso
The EXN sounded even blacker in the background and slightly more organic. It was the sound like taken from AK sp1000/2000 but with even better dynamics.
