Sidenote - so you went with the 220? Well done! We can compare notes! I am itching like an addict to have my new stuff in my hands and playing sounds into my ears!!! Currently the player has been shipped but not the amps, which is useless!!!

Yes! From AUD $1399 to AUD $950 (saving $450) was too good of a bargain for this lad to turn down. I mean, the Fiio M11 is AUD $799, so for an extra $150 for the DX220 was just far too tempting. It's an ex-demo unit, but the retailer has told me that it comes with a full warranty, so I've basically got free "burn in" lol.

I'm rather pragmatic about it all - if it's no better than my AK 120 II in terms of sound quality, at least I get a newer unit, bigger and better screen and better support for streaming (if I want to use it of course) and more formats (DSD up to 512, MQA etc). So, I can't possibly be worse off unless the sound quality is significantly worse than my current AK 120 II. If that happens, I'll give myself time to adapt and if I still don't like the iBasso, I'll sell it and use the funds to try another DAP.

Not the same case

Thanks for the confirm - they look very similar to my eyes.

Orange is the packaged one. I bought the exact blue Miter case and that’s my daily case. It’s holding pretty well.

Excellent! There's a really expensive case on Ebay (Brand: Dignis), but it's a bit pricey for my liking. I mean, when a case is 1/7 of the price of the DAP...

Anyway - reading through the manual bit by bit and it says that you can delete a song from the play list (p28) - does this ONLY delete the song from the play list, or completely delete the song from your library? The manual doesn't really specify.

Also trying to find a quick charge charger that suits, but it's a bit hard when none of the manufacturers actually state in their specs what quick charge protocols their units support lol...

edit: iBasso doesn't state the required amps for charging the DX220 either...handy to know just to be sure I'm not under-charging the unit with a charger that has too low of a current supply. This is basic spec information and it's frustrating to see manufacturers simply dropping the ball in this respect. edit: found it listed on the specs section on the product page on their website, no idea how I missed this initially. Having a lot of issues finding a 9v 1.5a fast charge charging unit - they're all pretty much 5v...

OK, found these 2:

https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-fast-charging-travel-adapter-type-c9v

https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-25w-usb-c-fast-charger

the first states 9v but when I look at Samsung's page, it states up to 5v (and yes, the Samsung product page also states 9v) - so what the hell is it...I spent 30 minutes on an online chat with Samsung tech who couldn't tell me what quick charging protocols their devices use...

the 2nd item states up to 12v...i think I'll go with the 2nd unit as it at least states PD3 support (which should be backwards compatible with PD2 I believe).

This shouldn't be this damn hard and it's why manufacturers should be bloody well including a damn charging unit with the product in the box imho. This is not a swipe at iBasso, but at all DAP manufacturers.

Suggestion for iBasso - please introduce Airplay usability on the DX220 (if it is technically possible that is).

Is there a page that details each of the amp modules for the DX220 and what connectors they take (3.5mm, 2.5mm balanced, 4.4mm balanced etc). Most product pages I've seen don't mention what plug the amp module takes...

One final question for those more knowledgeable on the DX220 than this newbie - can I upgrade from an old firmware version to the latest, or is it advisable to upgrade firmware a step at a time?
Sorry for so many questions, IBasso's website and manual don't cover a lot of things in detail and I'm a very analytical kind of person!

Thank you! Are all the amps compatible with the DX220 or only the 7 to 9? (and 1 mark II of course).

On the fast charger side of things, I ended up getting the 15W charging unit - fine print on the packaging says up to 9v 1.67a. The salesperson tried to tell me the only thing that is important is the W rating cos you can push too much W to the battery and blow it up - never have I heard such BS in my life lol! I kinda argued with him that he's wrong (not trying to be a dick, but I come from a technical background and my high school physics is still pretty good, despite leaving school 35 years ago!). I maintain that the wattage indicators being more commonly used now on chargers are very misleading and down right dangerous since the v/a are usually in very tiny print and most ordinary consumers have jack all idea on how electricity works. It remains to be see as to the type of quick charge tech the charger uses.

One more question (I think this should be my final One, sorry for inundating the thread with posts).

Replacement screen protectors - are these Ones from Ebay OK or are there particular ones that I should be purchasing?

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3x-Schu...9H-Panzerfolie-Schutz-Glas-Folie/303723405596

edit: another question has popped into my mind (sorry guys, I have a very bad short term memory and keep forgetting things):

Does PEQ now work in Mango mode or only in Android mode still?

I use Aukey QC 3.0 charger (can be found on Amazon) and it works great. Quote from Twister6 eariler below. Indeed, I also have tall shaped phone quick charger that doesn't work well with DX220.

Also, on the playlist -> delete, it will only delete from the playlist. The song remains in folder.

It comes with a screen protector but one of those eBay ones should work for the front side. For the back, you need a split protector for the main unit and amp. The only place I know is from Japan

well that's a bummer since I've already bought the Samsung unit. I guess I'm returning it. I'm guessing that it uses a proprietary fast charge tech that ONLY works with Samsung products and no 3rd party products. The Aukey product won't be any good to me, since it won't ship with an Australian plug and I'd rather not have to resort to using adaptors...they're unsightly and bloody well super large, hogging powerboards!

I found these 2 items on a quick search on amazon.com.au but neither bloody well state the operating voltage range:

https://www.amazon.com.au/Australia...ds=Aukey+QC+3.0+charger&qid=1604232104&sr=8-5

https://www.amazon.com.au/Charge-Ch...ds=Aukey+QC+3.0+charger&qid=1604232104&sr=8-2

what is bloody well wrong with manufacturers these days? Standards are to indicate voltage and damn well amps on *ANY* charger. Watts is irrelevant. *** people...has the world gone stupid?

Thank you! I've read that the tempered glass items impact on the touch screen's ability to register a touch, so will probably go with the film items. edit: Japan is notorious for refusing to ship overseas and I have no one in Japan...my local retailer doesn't stock them. This is an issue. I shall contact iBasso about this.
