Go, go, go....Those have AMP 9 can give a try. Try this new firmware and share your impression of AMP9 vs AMP MK II. :gs1000smile:

Can't download.
Can you report how about CPU frequency after update?
It was ~200mhz/800mhz (min/max)

From the review I read so far dx220 has better value in comparison to sp1000. At a half price it is smaller and lighter
while producing comparable if not better sound. Upcoming amp9 is definitely something to be excited about..
I cant wait to hear about amp9.

increasing CPU freq will increase heat, but will improve the lag. It's a double edge sword. Maybe to tweak the kernel to optimize voltage and speed. But that has probably been done.

I am trying to decide on DX220 or QP2R. I would use the DX220 only with the Mango OS as I do not need the other stuff although being able to stream Tidal would be good if I ever get a subscription. Any advice from those that have both or have heard both?

I have both and love both, IMHO the sound from my QP2R is more clinical, more precise over my DX221. My DX221 is more enjoyable, now waiting for the AMP9 :)

Newest fw increasing CPU freq to 1ghz, and i think 1.2ghz will not increase heat to much
Probably kernel tweaking. If we can root the DAP we can play around with the voltage but probably cause issues with warranty.

Low freq (bass) Emphasize.
IMO, AMP1Mk2 delivered good detail bass even rumble, AMP8 can boost that but not to the level of Bass Head wanted :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.
for me, AMP8 is not WARM...
When Listening to AMP8 for more then 2 weeks, I realized that my cup of tea changes... I seek for MID... and I can tell you AMP1Mk2 Mid is unique...
Well, take this as grain of salt, from a guy who use to love V-Shaped....

Wow, I purchased an Amp8 today and my Hyla's sound better than ever! Definitely more bass, but in a musical way and even more output down to the levels of audible hearing. Great match me thinks.

Got a sample of the AMP9. Sounds funky at first, soft bass and not transparent or dynamic, an hour in, things really change, 2 hours in and very beautiful sound. Dynamic, transparent and big. Using the Focal Stellia right now, Around 135 on the volume but a little too loud so down to 130. Normal warmth to touch on the DX220. The glow of the tubes on the back of the amp is cool. With IEMs, the IT04, no hiss but can hear hiss from the tape of the recording if it is there, as I would detect on the stats as well, so the AMP9 is quiet. Also no problems with tapping on the DX220, they really, really dampened the Korg tubes well. Great stuff!
what is amp 9? where can we find more info on this?

It's a new AMP unit that's coming out for the DX220 (I imagine it will - after a FW update - be compatible with other iBasso DAPs which feature interchangeable AMP modules).

It's got a Korg Nu-Tube, so it's basically a tube amplifier with a 3.5mm single ended output. I'm expecting a more warm, intimate and organic sound signature; typical of tube amps.
There's a few initial impressions if you scroll back through the previous posts in the last page or so.

Some units are currently being sent out to people for review (myself included, hurrah!).
If it follows the same pattern as other iBasso releases, then I'd expect it to be released publicly around the world very soon :)
