I was considering the dame thing by fidelizer. Id love to read a review

Coming from N8 background I was quite impressed how this mod combination expands the sound spectrum range to boundless.
The depth and width this thing provides is enormous with extreme clarity. This is a different level of bass I've heard on any IEMs.
DX220 was already sounding excellent but this mod (fidelizer body mod/amp8exfe) is definitely upgrade which you can clearly distinguish.
I congratulate iBasso for its great DX220 invention which has so much potential to improve upon.

As an only over-ear headphone user so far I plan to join the IEM world. What is the best option up to $1500 to pair with DX228? Solaris no brainer ?

I'm leaning towards Andromeda now . Many people praise it and describe it as all-rounder. It seems a risk-free no adventure choice. I also found an Andromeda deal with free 4.4m cable included
How does it sound out of DX228 ?:deadhorse::deadhorse:

Glad to see someone coming from the N8. Yes, I tried it at CanjamNyC, and if I so desired, I could have purchased it instead, but back then, the only thing worth more than my DX200EX-TI and Amp8EX is the Sony DMP-Z1. Hence the DMP-Z1 is in my collection :D. Now it is Dx220EX and Amp8EX that is worth keeping for portable music and take everywhere

Wow, if DMP-Z1 beats the DX220EX/AmpEX combo, it must be scary good! But then again it is too big for me as I am only a portable person. :frowning2:

I've always liked neutral headphones. For my first IEM purchase I want something all-rounder instead of a very genre-taste spesific one.

I just thought of a pretty good mid tier neutral IEM: Cayin YB04. If you want balanced, I would say Andromeda or Empire Ears ESR. You could also try Noble Kaiser K10 or Encore. I didn't feel the Rai Penta was a good all rounder. Have a look at the Showcase section and get a feel for what's out there. If you can hold on, wait until the London Canjam in July

hehehe... stay that way...
It was revealing using Z1...
the toxic is there, but AMP8EX-FE can cure part of it...

Yes, the DX228EX can cure part of it :). I often use it as substitutes for DMP Z1 instead of carrying around the big bad boy. Perhaps the DX220Max is easier to carry around

I have the Shure SE846 paired with the DX220 and i'm happy with them.

First with the stock AMP1MK2, now using them with the AMP8Ex Fan Edition.
There is no waterfall hiss which is impressive because the SE846 are very sensitive with 9 Ohm.

I prefer the SE846 over the Campfire series (Andromeda for example), because they are not that bulky and have much better ergonomics (especially for me).
